There is a house on Bridge Street called 'Park View' visible on your left as you come over the bridge headed toward Llandaff North from Llandaff. We call it the clown house because it is covered in grey and mult-colored interior bathroom tiles, the roof is covered in solar panels, it has massive picture windows with curtains that are never closed, the owners drive a red and blue Chrysler 300C, and they have just put up all their Christmas decorations.

Yep. You read that right. Their house, inside and out, is fully decorated with trees and lights, and will remain so until New Year's Day.

WTF?!?

I have meant to query this in years past, but always forget. But there they are, once again, well ahead of the season. Has anyone else in Cardiff noticed this place? Want to venture a guess as to what's up with the owners?

Very eccentric.

They're late this year - it's usually mid-Sept.

My eldest goes to maths classes in Landaff North, couple of times a year I find myself at a loose end there whilst I wait for him so I take a walk, my route goes past the 'clown house' can't help but peer in. Their eclectic taste carries thoughout.

I first noticed the horrific modified Chrysler PT cruiser driving around. I then saw it parked outside their house and assumed it was one of those sad cases where their child was terminally ill so they did everything the child wanted to make their short time here better.
Years later and they still have the horrific car and the house seems more gaudy than ever. I know think that they are just artists (bad ones) expressing themselves.
I would love to know their story and I would love to see what the inside of their house looks like though!

muttley, you can pretty much see exactly what their house looks like inside if you just pass by after sunset. They never close the curtains on those huge windows.

NB: I assume their bedroom has normal windows. I'm only talking about their living room/dining room/kitchen area.

It's not that bad. The picture in my mind was much more crazy than the real house on street view.

That PTCruiser and house are something special aren't they ๐Ÿ˜†

A friend lives in that area and we always look forward to the crazy light show every year to see how mad they can go this time! Owned by an arty-hippy couple apparently but I've never seen them.

EDIT: Just checked the maps link from Markie, the car's worse than that now! Much more stick-on chrome bits!

Maybe every town has one. Abergavenny certainly used to have a "mad house decorator" on the Brecon road opposite the bike shop. It appears top have changed hands a few years back and is now just another normal terraced house ๐Ÿ™

The Abergavenny one was done by a couple for the local kids after they (or someone in their immediate family) had lost one IIRC. Sadly they got too old to live there so moved out.
