I can watch youtube videos on youtube.
I can watch them embedded in other sites.
I have the latest version of Flash.
But, having moved from Opera back to IE8, I can't see embedded video on STW.

Any ideas?
(apart from going back to Opera (which isn't going to happen))

Could be IE8 security settings blocking it for stw. Not sure how to check for this as never use IE except for sites too lazy to allow other browsers.

May I suggest you try firefox instead of those other two.

Do you have any ahem, "blocking" software set to filter things out on STW ?

No ad-blocking software here.
And I think my IE security settings are default.

Would prefer not to have to go to Firefox - I didn't like it any more than Opera last time I tried it. May give Chrome a whirl?

You could always try Firefox / Opera / Chrome etc as a troubleshooting step rather than a permanent solution. If it works, you're looking for an IE-specific issue, if it doesn't then it's something system-wide.

And for what it's worth, I can confirm that it's not an Adblock Plus issue.

(Because I just installed it specifically for testing purposes and not because I use it generally on here, obviously)

Almost certainly is IE8 specific as I could see them fine with Opera.

Same here, security set to default, IE8 32 bit on Windows 7. Did do a Flash upgrade this morning - wonder if it could be that?

+1.

IE8 on Vista. Fully patched, default security settings. Running AVG, plus Windows firewall (and another firewall on the router). Latest version of Flash installed.

All fine on YouTube, Vimeo - I just can't see the embedded ones.

I can see the embedded ones on Firefox.

It must be an update issue I'm sure as I could also see them for a few days when they first appeared. Grrrrr

Same here - on all three computers that I use to browse the site:

Home desktop - XP Pro, SP3, IE8
Home laptop - Vista, IE8
Work laptop - XP Pro, SP3, IE6

All with different firewalls and anti-virus software running...

Could try posting some wildly inappropriate content - might get their attention.

Could "accidently" post a video and then claim it was an accident because it couldn't be checked....

Yup - same here - big white spaces 🙁

For a while, I could see the youtube ones but not the vimeo ones - now none at all. Have tried turning off security stuff with no joy.
