Does anyone know if it is acceptable to hand in notice via email, i really can't be bothered with driving into work with it as they don't have a letter box!
I would have thought it was ok, but you never know these days.
Cheers....

It may depend upon your terms of employment. Some companies don't recognise an e-mail as a legally binding document.

send it registered post, then someone else has to take it in for you and you have proof it arrived. or courier it, if it has to get there today.

What's the job? Where is it based and are they looking for a replacement?

I would do but as i said can't be bothered with the hassle, they know it's coming as i have already told them "face to face" they just want it in writing and this means another journey.

Heathy, I have done so before with no problems but they did want a hard copy after the event.

Could I be so cheeky as to ask, Is it a company which might sound like "tiny" or "small" then "to prepare a fish"

(if that does not make any sense I presume its not them)

heathy - for completeness, put it into hard copy (letter) and send it special delivery. It needs to be signed for, and is trackable (unlike registered, which is a crock).

That way there can be no future dispute as to whether it has been received. Also, check your employment contract - there may be special rules on notices in there.

Ah smallbone's, no, they too are just up the road, a few old colleagues were laid off recently.

I'm going to write it out manually and deliver my self then!

I used to work there, not a good place at all......

An email is OK to let them know but I think most places will always want it in writing as a follow up, but they should take the email as formal notice though.

just a letter should be fine - no need for a sacrificial offering!

I did. Wrote the e-mail half-pissed, too. Is was that or speak to him face-to-face half-pissed. Then my boss didn't even read it, had to phone him the next to check and he read it while I was on the other end. Hahahha, he was ****.

I just typed it up and walked over to my boss-ooh that was difficult unless you're on sick leave or holiday.

Don't burn your bridges.

I did, and cc'ed my home email
The Personnel Puppy (who was one of the reasons I left) replied asking for a "hard copy"
I replied as follows
"File | Print"
No more questions
