i remember reading these books when i was a teenager (late 80's).

from what i can remember,it was about a fictitious family that lived on a safari park in africa.and learning about the wildlife there.

like gerald durrell in africa.

i remember enjoying the books a lot actually.it did teach you lots about the wildlife of africa.

thanks 🙂

Willard Price - fantastic books when I was a lad. My parents took me back to Kenya (I'm the Other Kenyan Born Cyclist) when I was 11 for a safari holiday, and I think I bored all the other people in our group senseless with stuff I'd picked up from those books.

Not sure if it was the cost of that trip, or me boring the pants off everyone, but it was the only family holiday we ever had! 😐

It wasn't fiction so probably not the book you are looking for but The Flame Trees of Thika was excellent - as was the TV series (available on DVD)

I used to love the Willard Price books as a kid but they have not aged well.

I recently read Volcano Adventure and Arctic Adventure to my kids and I thought they were quite dull and not at all how I remember them. I think my mind as a child was a more imaginative place than it is now!
