What is the connection between Donald Trump, the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, and Zelensky?
Donald's mother was a MacLeod. The MacLeod clan are descendants of Harold Hardrada who died at Stamford Bridge. Harold Hardrada was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Yaroslav the Wise of Ukraine.ย
Thus Donald shares Ukrainian ancestry with Zelensky.

I'm just raiding this thread to put my new years quiz together that we're hosting in the pub on New Years Eve. There's some absolute belters in here. You lot are evil! A trait I greatly admire.ย
See how you get on with my first couple of rounds....
I'll post the answers up later
I don't know if this just came to me or if I read it here earlier but, "who is the only person to sing their own name in Do They Know It's Christmas?".ย
The bitter Sting of tears?
Is it when Bono sings "tonight thank God it's them, instead of you"
(in his own mind at least)
Reminds me of a story from the Make Poverty History / the white silicone band years...Bono was playing a charity gig somewhere and clapping his hands every second (whatever it was) to demonstrate "every time I clap my hands, another child in Africa dies of starvation"ย to which some wag in the audience calls back "well stop doing it then you evil c**t"
^^ Thats the point of my question. Adds levity to the proceedings, and hopefully some wag will shout that out and those that get it will get a laugh.
What year was Christmas day officially a public holiday in Scotland?
1958, it was banded by the Scottish Parliament in 1640.
What are the full names of the 3 monopoly characters, Mr Monopoly, the policeman and the prisoner?
Two contentious and hence tricky ones.
How many English Kings are called "the great"?
There is Alfred since he defeated the vikings but also **** a hundred years later although he doesnt get that in England but in Sweden and Denmark instead.
Last successful invasion of England is normally claimed as 1066 but ask the Dutch and 1688 will come up and for me "invasion" does seem more accurate than "glorious revolution". Sure there was lots of people especially aristocrats switching sides but exploiting splits in a country is just good invasion advice see the Romans and British Empire who both specialised in it.
What are the full names of the 3 monopoly characters, Mr Monopoly, the policeman and the prisoner?
The Monopoly guy is something like Mr Pennybags.ย I had no idea the other two had names.

Mr. Monopoly (formerly Rich Uncle Pennybags) is the mascot of the game. His full name is Milburn Pennybags.
The Policeman who sends players to jail is named Officer Edgar Mallory.
The Prisoner (the disgruntled man in jail behind the bars) is named "Jake the Jailbird"
Huh.ย That's one for "Today I Learned."ย Neat.
