What I'm looking for is a Windows device to run our Educational Management software on. We cannot run it on Apple or Android, but should be able to do it on full Windows 8.1 (but not RT).
Ideally I'd like something I can carry around a Secondary School, whilst chasing up attendance anomalies and recording pastoral notes - both features of the system we currently run on Windows 7. I think an 8 inch screen may be OK, but larger would probably be better.
I would like to have removable keyboard for the odd chance I may get to actually sit down. The Microsoft Surface 3 Pro looks great, but I'm not sure I can justify the cost.
Anyone got any suggestions?
There's a load of 8" ones, I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro which is OK. It has an optional bluetooth keyboard (same size as the device) plus a case which it magnets on to.
They do an 11 Pro too which is similar spec (Atom processor, 1-2GB RAM, small amount of solid state storage, etc) but a bigger screen. Looking at £450ish including keyboard.
The modern Atoms are actually fairly capable - my 8 is a companion for the times I have a customer PC to work away on so it runs my Lync, Outlook, Onenote, etc. Can feel a bit sluggish if you ask too much of it at once though.
The Venue 8 Pro is on the list. Thanks.
Asus transformer netbook which is touchscreen. Removable keyboard running on windows 8.1 and charged by USB.
£250
