Heading up there mid August with the good lady.

Can anyone recommend a good campsite? Being able to light fires and great views would tick both boxes for us!

try fisherground - not sure about the fires but good on views / pub

I always like the National Trust campsite in Langdale although I am not sure about lighting fires... not that many campsites seem to allow it these days...

But, to make up for that you are only spitting distance of the ODG... 😀

Ok bit confused - Lake District or Peak District - there's about a 2 hour drive between them?

castlerigg 1mile outside of keswick town on the farm is great ive been staying with Doris for yrs, very friendly and accom' oh and its on the doorstep for whinlatter forest bike trail! as for the peaks one in hope and one in edale are also good calls enjoy it where ever you stay its all good

re: mikeclarke's post - there's two campsites at Castlerigg (the southern/higher one being pretty reasonable with good views), while the one in Hope (if its the one I was in) wasn't great to be honest (tents stuck miles from the shower block, issues with showers, full of noisy idiots when I went, no views).

i can recommend sykeside campsite.....
fantastic location great pub with food just next door, great shower block and just around the corner from Helvellyn....perfect 😆
