What about a leisure battery and a solar panel? That'll easily run lights and small electrical stuff, plus its silent.

Pursued batteries don't hold that much if you start charging laptops and mobiles never mind running lights etc

You need a Honda Ex650 from eBay. Old school non invertor reliable design, quietest generator ever made. The Em650/Ex1000 are good as well although a little louder.

I had a sideline tinkering and selling generators - the Honda's are great bits of kit and are still fully supported spares wise.

We used an EX650 for my wife's outdoor business events powering festoon lighting, cash register etc.

The impax inverter ones from screwfix are pretty good value if you don’t want to stretch to honda money.

I love that link describing a 120kg generator as ‘suitcase’. No wonder the baggage handlers are always on strike 🙂

I have a mint low hours Ex650 but I'm keeping it for when the lights go out in the zombie revolution! I've sold the rest due to house move.

There's one in eBay for BIN £180 that looks good (lots of them have the oil port cover missing). Depending on how many Watts capacity you need my money would go on one of them - it will still be worth pretty much what you pay for it in a few years whereas anything inverter/non Honda are disposable.

I've never quite seen the need for a generator for a weekend away.

Strikes me as the height of selfishness that others have to put up with the constant noise.

That's why I mentioned the battery and solar which will run pretty much anything you need for luxury camping (lights, fridge, TV, laptop, phones, etc) but as this set up up seems to be for some decks and amps the noise issue may be moot 🙂
