We will be in touch
I'm off for 3 weeks camping going from Holland and aiming for Gothenberg via Funen. Looking to do some riding, canoeing and fishing. Any recommendations for campsites/places to see?
Camping in sweden is pretty much not a problem, if your respectful you can camp pretty much anywhere thank Allemansrätt(Everyman right) for that. If you can manage it goto Säter, so many lakes and tracks you wont beleive it, heres a photo of my favourite lake there.
have fun
TW God that looks good - where about's is Sater?
Sweden is nice but pretty flat in the south. You have to go a long way north to get proper mountains etc. Also don't forget that it has a low population density - you need passage of people and wheels to make good singletrack so the best riding tends to be nearer the towns and cities (plenty in the forests around Gothenburg). www.happymtb.org is the Swedish version of singletrackworld and full of nice helpful people.
Bohuslan coast north of Gothenburg is OK. We also really liked the Dalsland region - not far from Gothenburg but pretty deserted and full of pretty lakes / gravel roads / Elk.
Tourist season is also very short - June to mid-August. Campsites pretty deserted and preparing for winter at end of August (but all still open and easy to get a pitch).
thanks Mick _ I think I can just about cope with Swedish logon details
Sater is here, and that picture was taken at one of the small lakes that I go back to everytime

Hmmm, Säter is hardly en-route though. As others have said, Bohuslän is good, but both for paddling and riding. Head for Gothenburg and then north, there's a world heritage site at Tanum where there are various interesting rock art (Bronze Age (??)) things to look at. Plenty of good riding and kayaking potential inbetween.
Camping- as long as you're not in someone's garden or a city centre nobody will bother you.
Hi there!
I found your thread... So, have you decided where to go? Gothenburg only or other places as well? Maybe you read my reply to crouch_potato where I mentioned Säfsen, Funäsdalen, Åre and so on?
Hopefully the people at Happymtb have been helpful to you. 🙂
Enjoy biking and camping! Let me know if there is any information you need.
