Hi, i'm in the market for a camcorder, nothing too fancy as im a technophobe. Looking to spend a £200ish. Thanks. Paul.

I've got a Sony DCR HC51E Mini DV Video Camera which was an insurance replacement for sale - £150 - email in profile if you're interested.

It's brand new and unused with box and all manuals etc - just got it out to take the picture.

Not used this one but the old one it replaced was dead easy to use and reasonable quality - mini DV tapes are available everywhere. Not sure about on PC but it worked really well with IMovie on the mac and a firewire lead for editing.

Yeah I reckon stick with tape for now. Domestic HD is not real HD, the quality is pish. And for archiving, your tapes will last longer than a dvd.

Find one with video in for helmet cam use. and preferably with actual buttons rather than touch screen.

I'm happy with my JVC Everio...mine has a hard disk plus option of using memory cards...worth a look

Get one with an optical viewfinder (saves draining the battery with an LCD)

Get one with a microphone input socket - improves audio massively
