I thought it was something you put in the washing machine to stop the element furring up.

So you're making a pizza and folding it over.

Well in truth it actually means that my wife is in hospital at the moment in the middle of an operation but I wouldn't want to burden you with my worries.

i think you will find that you don't really have a choice about what to put in the calzone to actually be a calzone 😀

I think you'll find there is no single recipe as Calzone just refers to it being folded and not the filling.

Make her some nice calzone then and smuggle it into hospital, giving A) your wife nice food. B) Yourself a fun smuggling mission.

Well I would but she won't be able to eat solid food for a few days so I don't think she'd thank me for wafting a folded pizza under her nose.

Or even better just take it in as you're allowed to so saving your from stuffing a 12" pizza box up your jumper.

Spinach, riccotta, parmensan, melted butter, little mozzarella, black pepper and salt. enjoy.

Or, sliced red and white onions, garlic, sliced peppers, lightly bound on a tomato sauce, add some spicy italian sausage or pepperoni, and a little mozzarella on top.

in fairness, the foldaway/runny bits inside/dry bit outside nature of the calzone make it ideal hospital/smuggling food.

Though check the 'takeaway pizza shelf life' thread for how soon you want to make it: Timing of smuggled comestibles with a post op-wife who feels like eating or is allowed to is critical.

Hope it all goes OK Gary.

Thanks Julian but as she's getting her gum sliced open I don't think she'll want to eat for a while.

ooooowwwwwwww! Best enjoy the calzone yourself then. Before you go and pick her up. Otherwise that would be just rubbing it in wouldn't it...

Best calzones in the world are made in Mareeba North Queensland.

Not biased or anything - used to drive over 50 miles to get them. The guy only makes them once a week and only a limited quantity.
