Is there a way of
a) creating a helicopter style fly-thru of a given path
b) saving this as a movie file, e.g. an mpeg
?

If so, how?
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks
Ash

a) yes it is, I did it by accident once. Try clicking on "play tour"?

Can't help further, Google Earth controls do my head in...

For b) there's plenty of software out there that will do a screen capture as a video

A) not sure but he ^ does
b) use screen capture software (records your screen to a movie file). Fraps is good and there is a free version. Fraps

Out of interest, how old are the photos they use and how often are they updated?

garmin connect allows you to convert a gps route into a google fly through.

You can do it manually just by loading the waypoints up and then doing the play tour thing - you can adjust the viewing angle to suit.

WCA - photos are usually high res satellite imagery or aerial photography there is a little bit of text at the bottom left of the view that tells you when the data were acquired.

You can make paths, and add altitude to them and then play a movie of it. Look for 'paths' in the help files.

Don't forget to put photorealistic buildings on if you are near a city.

Btw do you know about the flight-sim mode?

WCA - the age of the images varies. Many places are only a few years old. You can display a date slider where you can go back in time to older images. If you zoom all the way out on the USA the date slider goes back to 1900 but I can't for the life of me find any of the images close up!
