We will be in touch
I have one of these composite / fake marble fireplaces that we want to remove and open up the original brick fireplace opening.
Before I attack it with a crowbar and sledgehammer, any idea how these things are typically attached to the wall? Can't see any fixings from inside the fireplace...
Ta!
Usually screwed with plates on the outside edge that are then plastered over. You can sometimes find them with a magnet and dig them out to minimise mess. If not start pulling and see where it sticks
Just checking, when you say looked inside, do you mean lifted the mantelpiece and looked inside there? That's another place for fixings
Cheers. Makes sense. One piece sides and mantelpiece. It going to be somewhat messy no matter what!
I would start by running a Stanley blade down the sides and across the top, into the wall. Make a really deep cut. That will help prevent all the plaster etc. coming away with the fireplace and will locate fixing tabs.
