Can anyone help with complaints to BT. Quick outline is we cancelled our BT LAN line contract and paid the outstanding bill on the day the line was cancelled. BT say we never formally cancelled the contract and say we owe £110. We say otherwise. Funnily enough they don't have all the phone calls on record. Had multiple calls with BT call centre in India who confirmed we owed nothing. Oddly BT can't find these calls. I've written to complain and had phone call with compaints dept who said they'd progress to a higher level. I get no response but today I get a debt collection letter. Scum bags. Who do i escalate this further? Arghhh.

I feel your pain! They are the worst company in the world to deal with.
I sent a letter, by recorded delivery, detailing the sorry saga from beginning to end, finishing with words to the effect that if there was no response within x days I would be starting the Small Claims Court process.
It worked. Good luck and persevere.
When you cancelled your line, were you still in a 12 month contract period? If you opted for a cheaper package at some point (I think one was a couple of quid off the monthly line rental) you will start a new 12month period and you will get charged for any line rental due at the point you cancel. I got caught with this as I'd forgot, but thankfully it was just one month owing.
Hi Spooky
Was aware of this and they agreed if we paid in full on the day we'd incurr no further charges. Funny they can't find the recorded calls to prove this along with the calls with Service Centre in India. Now waiting for a call back. Fingers crossed. Email sent to Ofcom as well. Thanks
I sent copies of my letter to Ofcom, Watchdog, Sunday Times etc - total waste of time cos they didn't want to know.
I've experienced the BT call centre hang up on me too. They treat customers with contempt and I couldn't wait to end my contract with them. How they stay in business I don't know, all that money spent on slick tv ads and people fall for it. 👿

Not sure about that. BT's adverts, in the last couple of years, have made me actively avoid them.
in the last couple of years, have made me actively avoid them.
Why?
Because they are awful.
Never had an issue with BT to be honest, always been spot on with customer service and technical service in my experience. I do wonder if it helps to know what your rights are. But ultimately it's a large company and the front line will be people paid peanuts, so there's bound to be mistakes.
If you want to know what dire customer service is you'd have to jump back in time to Tiscali 2008. A month and a half of me having to tell the tech staff what the fault was, where it was (or at least where it wasn't and limiting the locations), then being fobbed off for over 2 months and then speaking to a BT eng who confirmed my original diagnosis and fixed it in 20 mins.
Nothing but lurve for BT here 😀
Do you not have it in writing, the cancellation and fees paid letter? I got this when I had to cancel and move.
Try sending an email to the directors office,i dont know the address but i'm sure its easyish to find, they will sort it for sure.I have come across a few people who have done this ,and get results.

Moving from Talk Talk is almost always a good move. (-:

Nowhere near, and you've obviously never dealt with Cable & Wireless (Cheaters & W***ers).
