need some help here guys
me and some mates have released a song for the world cup, it's our passionate plea to our beloved England to deliver the goods this time !
if you have a minute see our video at
www.bringitbacktoblighty.co.uk or look at the video on youtube
launched today also on itunes, with Amazon and other formats coming
we would love to try and get into the charts with this - we are just a bunch of dad's who ride bikes and play footie, and would love to see the world cup 'coming home'
wish us luck
thanks all - U.Z.
That's awesome! I've linked it to my Facebook...
[Irritating pedant)I don't understand the 'bring it back to blighty' bit. Seeing as how 'Blighty' is a nickname for Britain, rather than just England. Or is there now a Great Britain footie team?
The World Cup was a competition that originated in South America. The Jules Rimet trophy was made in France. That's the one that England won in 1966. The current trophy was made in Italy and has never been won by England, not has it, I believe, ever been in this country.
Therefore, 'Bringing it back to Blighty' is somehow not quite right really.[/Irritating pedant]
EDIT: Good luck with it though. All part of the fun!
thanks for that - it's nice when people have given us some positive feedback, good to know we have not made total asses of ourselves 😀
we have had good responses from local radio, also got a play on talksport
also managed to get it played at half-time at some of the conference league grounds.
thanks for the support, and spreading the blighty
thanks - U.Z.
which one are you?
Hi Talkmeda
yep, we have had someone bring this up on the facebook site
as far as we are aware the term 'blighty' was some sort of corruption for a hindu word meaning 'home'
so we decided that it seemed OK to use
there is also another reason - this song has been 'spun out' from an amazing story that started with a long lost Charlie Chaplin film being found on ebay - have a look on the web for that story. But basically its from an old First World War song sung by troops marching to the front.
anyway, hope the 'blighty' bit does not put you off too much !
cheers - U.Z.
Hi Pook
I am now known in our village as 'Mr Tiddly' as it's me holding the lyrics card up in one scene - also singing away in the chorus at various points.
cheers - U.Z.
Reminds me of this:

'Mr Tiddly'
that's what all the girls say 😉
looks like you had a lot of fun doing that - well done!

Following a proposal of the Executive Committee, the FIFA Congress in Amsterdam on 26 May 1928 decided to stage an official FIFA World Championship

Whilst the first finals were staged in Uruguay, the competion was conceived in Europe.
fair point TM; I was referring more to where the first World Cup was held though really.
we are starting to gather momentum guy's
Just heard that Hawksby and Jacobs show on Talk-sport are playing tune every day this week - also we have been shortlisted for the talk-sport official world cup song (please vote for us !)
Apparently someone heard the song yesterday and wants us to perform live
at some sort of caberet evening at the fairfield halls in Croydon - Blimey, we had better learn to sing proper like !
all your support for 'blighty' is appreciated
regards - U.Z.

Bump.
Check it out folks - for a group of lads who cobbled this together in the pub its a pretty slick and professional effort, and its pretty catchy.
Uncle Zaskar - Paul Chater (with the feather duster) is my brother-in-law. I'll make sure I tell him that I saw this posted on STW. Fingers crossed for a chart placing!
