At a conference there for the next 3 days, can anyone recommend things to do in any miments I may get to escape!
Not that 3 days of occupational health wont be riveting . . .
Bring your bike. Trails are great just now!
Come to see Gold Panda with me and my mate tomorrow night? 🙂
Failing that the forecast is good for the next few days so I can recommend some goods pubs.
Do you have lights? Join us Thursday night to slay some singletrack!
Stanmer was great tonight.
aaah - 10 very good years spent in brighton (now in the witterings).
pubs:
Shakespeares head (7 dials)
Lion & Lobster (hove)
The Hampton
The BasketMakers (north Laine)
breakfast:
7bees cafe (The Lanes)
Bills (in town)
Billies Cafe (montpellier)
Fun:
Palace Pier
Wakeboarding cable park - hovelagoon
Stanmer PArk - home of the brighton big dog and some excellent riding
Brighton is ace - but mostly these dyas it's shops, booze and food - all of which is very excellent. I'd take your bike and maybe get in touch with the fine folkd at brighton MTB - they do a night ride each week and will show you some lovely riding....
Seriously considered taking my bike, but doesnt look feasible with everything else I have to do.
Golden panda - whatever they are/it is sounds like more fun that the networking dinner! I will have to go to that though and network . . . May sneak out later
*looks at case and wonders if bike gear and helmet would fit*
Very nice cheese and wine shop in Hove 😉
komedia.co.uk
stanmer, the cold is making it crisp n fast
knock it all on the head and get pissed in the office eating cheap thai 😉
Were at the grand hotel, hopefully its as grand as it sounds. I think I have more flexibility on thursday night. Just looked at the schedule networking dinner Wednesday followed by optional 8am breakfast workshop
I mean really, 8am!?
Well, if anyone wants to know about colour blindness testing or deafness . . .
Escaping from the grand hotel for an hour - which way for a nice bar (the bit between the station and here seemed a little grim)
Fortune of War straight out in front of the hotel on the seafront.
Lovely location.
Or The Basket Makers for a proper pint.
North Laine off Syndey street.
If you turn right then head along for a few 100 yards past large square - look up streets, decent-ish pub up one (used to have scaffolding on the corner) - good Sunday lunch anyway, sorry don't remember the name. FYI there is more stiff left and left but it can be a warren.

We'll pass you on the way to the gig if you're down there. Wave to every pair of blokes that walk by and one might be me 🙂
Walking back that way as had wandered off!

Thanks proping up the bar with a mulled cider 🙂

...it is,..you'll have a blast!
There's always Premier League football.
Oh no, wait...
APF
You haven't seen the other attendees!

I wish I could but didnt bring the bike or riding gear - regretting that now. Well if tonight is dull I shall be propping up a bar somewhere in my evening attire!
APF - premier league???? Would rather go night riding in my frock!
Jeez, Dez - you're supposed to ask how she likes her eggs in the morning 🙄optional 8am breakfast workshop
I mean really, 8am!?
mind, I think AW's bottling it. Maybe you're just too sexy
Some good cocktail bars... Merkaba, Oki.
Good restaurants too.
adjustable, try Bar R or The Marlborough, you might get lucky 😈
You could
1) save me from my in laws (I am Sat in the kitchen with a overly large glass of wine on my own to escape andthey only arrived this afternoon)
2) come round and build up the frame that arrived yesterday so I can take it out on Sunday
Or
3) sit up all night with my 3 week old daughter so I can get enough sleep to feel vaguely human again
Or any combination of the above?
64 degrees for posh ,terre terre for vegi and world end for BBQ get the local paper for hookers job done ?
If you come out of the Grand turn right then right again up a side street then turn left when you get to the top of the road (Churchill Sq is on your right) you'll find my old local The Pull & Pump. Used to always have Summer Lightning on and I could see it from my front door. I do miss living in Brighton but it's bloody expensive. The Robin Hood in Hove (just) is pretty good as well.
Dragged myself away from the bar for an early night, even stuffy doctors start to look ok with champagne goggles on!
Merkaba has been mentioned a few times as has bohemian and one of the staff recommend a bar that was good for older people (as the rest were for 18-19 year olds and we wouldnt like them apparently! ) can't remember the name of it but I guess there would be no steps up to the dance floor and stannah stair lifts everywhere steps were unavoidable!
Pah! youth or today!! (says the old woman getting an early night!)
