Failing that the forecast is good for the next few days so I can recommend some goods pubs.

aaah - 10 very good years spent in brighton (now in the witterings).

pubs:
Shakespeares head (7 dials)
Lion & Lobster (hove)
The Hampton
The BasketMakers (north Laine)

breakfast:
7bees cafe (The Lanes)
Bills (in town)
Billies Cafe (montpellier)

Fun:
Palace Pier
Wakeboarding cable park - hovelagoon
Stanmer PArk - home of the brighton big dog and some excellent riding

Brighton is ace - but mostly these dyas it's shops, booze and food - all of which is very excellent. I'd take your bike and maybe get in touch with the fine folkd at brighton MTB - they do a night ride each week and will show you some lovely riding....

Seriously considered taking my bike, but doesnt look feasible with everything else I have to do.

Well, if anyone wants to know about colour blindness testing or deafness . . .

Escaping from the grand hotel for an hour - which way for a nice bar (the bit between the station and here seemed a little grim)

If you turn right then head along for a few 100 yards past large square - look up streets, decent-ish pub up one (used to have scaffolding on the corner) - good Sunday lunch anyway, sorry don't remember the name. FYI there is more stiff left and left but it can be a warren.

We'll pass you on the way to the gig if you're down there. Wave to every pair of blokes that walk by and one might be me 🙂

You could
1) save me from my in laws (I am Sat in the kitchen with a overly large glass of wine on my own to escape andthey only arrived this afternoon)
2) come round and build up the frame that arrived yesterday so I can take it out on Sunday
Or
3) sit up all night with my 3 week old daughter so I can get enough sleep to feel vaguely human again

Or any combination of the above?

If you come out of the Grand turn right then right again up a side street then turn left when you get to the top of the road (Churchill Sq is on your right) you'll find my old local The Pull & Pump. Used to always have Summer Lightning on and I could see it from my front door. I do miss living in Brighton but it's bloody expensive. The Robin Hood in Hove (just) is pretty good as well.

Dragged myself away from the bar for an early night, even stuffy doctors start to look ok with champagne goggles on!

Merkaba has been mentioned a few times as has bohemian and one of the staff recommend a bar that was good for older people (as the rest were for 18-19 year olds and we wouldnt like them apparently! ) can't remember the name of it but I guess there would be no steps up to the dance floor and stannah stair lifts everywhere steps were unavoidable!

Pah! youth or today!! (says the old woman getting an early night!)
