Rode the Raven at Brechfa on Saturday... on returning to the car, we noticed a lot of loud mewing and a tiny kitten hiding under and around the cars... it even climbed up inside the wheel of the car next to mine and sat on the brake caliper.

On closer inspection, we saw another kitten dead in the puddle we'd parked next to... someone had obviously decided that a trail centre car park in the pissing rain was a good place to dump some unwanted kittens.

We discussed our newly found moral dilemma with some other guys in the car park, and decided that since we were leaving and they'd just arrived, we would do the decent thing and take the cat. They found a box (barely large enough!) and we caught her and set off... wondering where we were going to find a vet or RSCPA place to drop her off.

Anyway... on the journey, we stopped and picked up some kitten food and gave her some water....

...then we named her 'Brechfa' (we are very imaginative)...

...then we got a bit attached to her, and I called the wife to tell her I was bringing an extra passenger home.

So... meet Brechfa the cat:

She had a checkup at the vet yesterday and is in very good health (apart from a lot of fleas).

Ahh, what a beautiful story. She is lovely. Sad world when people have no feelings for animals.

Lovely story 8)

But I really don't understand why anyone would want to dump kittens - apart from anything else, they're worth money. It's adult cats which struggle more finding a home.

I have always been fairly anti-cat, on the basis that they are pretty useless...

I'm pretty sure I still don't like cats in general, but I quite like this cat 🙂

They're nor great domestic helpers, but some will smother you with affection, eg we were away this WE and both our cats just went mental when we came back last night - so happy to see us. Even this morning they were just rolling on the bed purring away from about 6am till I left at 9!

Good work fella! What a great story! Have you had cats before? Just warning you - don't expect any gratitude 😉

As noted though, the mercenary little buggers are great to have around! Young kittens are particularly bonkers!! And will provide you with hours of amusement! Ie: watching our mad little sod chase the washing, while its spinning round in the washing machine ( the washing, not thd cat!) Completely mental! 😀

I haven't had cats before (or many pets for that matter... i had a cockatiel when I was about 12), but the mrs has.

She was absolutely desperate for a cat, but I had said no. She has been kind enough not to mention the double standard or hypocrisy yet 🙂

Spent a while sat on the kitchen floor with her yesterday - she purrs like a V8 when you tickle her chin and neck (cat that is, not the wife)

Me and 3 others were out for a Warwickshire XC ride a week ago. Pulled out of a field by a road layby and a little ginger kitten mewed and jumped out at me. Looked around to see if there was any more dumped but there wasn't.

Went into a nearby farm and knocked, whereupon 3 dodgy looking 'cousin'-types emerged from their scratty old shed full of bits of random stuff.

They thought it was probably belonging to another farm up the road and so I left it with them....

They probably ate it!

Thank you for that story without a happy ending kayak23. I was starting to overdose with feelgood thoughts.

Daaaw, I approve of the rescue and the kitty, but the initial abandonment makes me sad. I'm so conflicted! D:

I'm ok with that.......it's the thought of her dead brother/sister in the puddle which chokes me up 😥

Oh very cute.

They do that paw pressing thing to stimulate the milk from the mother, however you are now the 'mummy'.

Good work.

+1....

Know what you mean about the 'getting attached' bit - out walking out Ted, whilst on hols last year, we found ourselves 'adopted' by a rather scruffy, unidentified border terrier (same breed as Ted). HUGE field, no-one around so we took her back to base... whilst we contacted the local dog warden we did get into the 'what if she's not chipped' conversation. She would, of course, have come home with us..
Turned out she was chipped, aged 17!!! deaf as a post (we'd kind of worked that out!), owner was overjoyed.
