Hi,
it's been done somewhere, but the search function seem to list things from 10years ago!

bought a new to us car yesterday (2011 model), want to get breakdown cover. got coverybreakdown for our other, very old car, but looking at it, green flag want near £100, yet rescuemycar and the cheaper ones are between £30-50, for no excess, unlimited callout, home start and onward journey type cover.

I've had cheap breakdown cover before and used it, and it was OK. but it wasn't this cheap...

bit nervous to go with cheaper tbh, but anyone any advice? do the main players do it significantly better?

Green Flag are consistently cheaper for the two of us driving both our cars. And were very good when had to use them last year.

RAC, £50 for the year inc home callout, unlimited rescue and onward journey.
To be fair that was a special offer - I switched to RAC for car insurance a few months ago, didn't buy breakdown cover with it and as a result they spent the next couple of weeks offering me progressively lower prices and more perks.

So a tip if you're buying car insurance - buy that first then wait for them to ask why you haven't bought breakdown cover, how they're sure it must have been a terrible oversight on your part and how they'd like to help you. 😉

Just about to renew to Autoaid, been with them 4 or so years and though I've not used them lately, they've not failed me previously & seemed as cheap as any other option last year

cheap as any other option last year

Haven’t they upped their premium by 50%?

Just about to renew to Autoaid

I was with autoaid a few years back. couple of callouts, no problems, but then of course the premium rocketed.

They increase their price by a £10 last year and want another £5 on this renewal, but when I checked, no one else was really any cheaper last year & I know there service works. But am watching what other suggestion there are on here..

I'm exploring the route of adding to my existing breakdown cover, see how much that compares to.

either that or I may see about cover from my insurer..

After my ignition barrel jammed this afternoon, I can highly recommend Autoaid, van picked up and delivered to local Peugeot specialist within 1hr 30mins.
Think it's around £45.00 a year for both of us .
