France are missing Valbuena.

[s]Ecuador keeper playing well.[/s] Sorry....it's more the French are just ****ting it straight at him.

Only problem for Ecuador, is they are putting all their efforts into not conceding, so no time for actually scoring.

In other news, a better performance from Phil Nev. Just needs to learn how to pronounce names some correctly.

Ecuador deserved something from that game. Easy enough qualification for France and Switzerland in the end. I hadn't realised quite how shite Honduras would be.

Bit of a boring one this evening, compared to the excitement earlier & yesterday..

Roll on tomorrow.

Thank god the good games are on BBC tomorrow.

[img] [/img]

USA are ok with a draw, and maybe even a loss if it's not too heavy, and Portugal beat Ghana. Should be interesting.

[img] [/img]

Belgium, later on in the evening, have been disappointing so far. Given the calibre of their players, they have just been meh to watch. Will suit ITV perfectly.

On the plus side, either Algeria, SK or Russia can go through.

I wish England had been as disappointing as Belgium....

Anyway will Andy Townsend be back on ITV, I've not heard him recently, I'm starting to worry for his well being...

there are many other teams I wish england were as disappointing as:)

I think there was more excitement in thh Ecuador / japan games than in any of the england games.. says a lot about the way england play.

Chris waddle hit the nail on the head when he said the system has to change or we'd be sitting here 2 years from now saying the next crop of players would be exciting..blah blah blah.

on a side note. I nearly didnt recognise phil neville commentating as he had changed from grand national style with football cliches to siri . That pogba header was awful irrespective of which direction it was supposed to go. I think it came off his nose.

Anyway, getting back to the football...

USA - Germany draw this evening means they both go through. USA managed by one of Germany's favourite sons. Germany has previous in the (in)famous non-aggression pact of Gijon: Nichtangriffspakt von Gijón. 😀

(I may not be being quite serious here. And I'd hate to see Ghana go out like that, but Ronaldo and Portugal? Hmmm...)

I think USA have been pretty good so I hope they go through with Germany. Feel a bit for Ronaldo as the pressure is all on him as the rest of the Portugal side looks pretty average and with Messi and Neymar having had such a good start, he'll be desperate to get his shirt off tonight.

Better [s]always wrong[/s] late than never:

USAUSAUSA! - Germany: 2-3
Ronaldo - Ghana: 1-2
Putin’s Russia - Algeria: 1-1
Kim Jong-un's cooler neighbours - Waffles: 1-3

I'd love to see the USA go through but I think we'll be disappointed, a dull 1-0 win to Germany. Ghana and Algeria to do the job on Portugal and Ruskies.

Oh yes and definitely no biting tonight.

Ghana have now suspended Kevin Prince Boateng and Sully Muntari and sent them both home!

Muntari is alleged to have slapped Ghana management committee member Moses Armah Parker.

A statement from the Ghanaian FA read: "The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has suspended Sulley Ali Muntari indefinitely from the Black Stars with immediate effect.

"The decision was taken in the wake of his unprovoked physical attack on an Executive Committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr. Moses Armah on Tuesday 24th June, 2014 during a meeting.

"Muntari’s accreditation for the 2014 World Cup has been withdrawn with immediate effect."

"The decision was taken following Boateng’s vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team’s training session in Maceio this week.

"Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions which has resulted in the decision. Boateng’s accreditation for the 2014 World Cup has been withdrawn with immediate effect."

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth midfielder told Sportbild: "Yes, I am leaving. I am no longer part of the team."

seeing the $18m cash shipped out for ghana players I see them going the same way as cameroon. Money first, everything else on hold.

Portugal for the win

If Algeria play like they did against Korea, they'll absolutely batter the Russians.

@binners - agreed, fingers crossed it wasn't a one off

deleted wrong thread

[s]Some discussion here about whether Suarez can appeal (view is he cannot play next match whether he appeals or not). Also what "all football activity" really means.

Liverpool should sell him. he wants to go so he can get his cut of the transfer fee and the club would be better off without him.[/s]

i wonder if the ban starts at the beginning of the season or now..in which case its only 2 months.

I reckon they should make him wear a gum shield for all the rest of the matches.. shame they didnt insist on therapy too as its just going to happen again.

Pretty poor conclusion seeing he got 10 match the last time from the domestic league and if it only 2 months then maybe 8 games of the league. Smells of sepp bladder to me.

will they need a dinghy for the usa and germany game.. geez who'd thought we'd have better weather so far here !!!

Any chance we could keep the Suarez "how outraged/apoplectic/tumescent are you?" discussion to the other thread?

That's some finish! So as it stands Germany and USA still through?
Ghana need to win don't they or Portugal by about 3 goals?
Edit: I'm watching on mute so no idea what's going on in the group.

Well, given that they nearly got a draw with the eventual winners, USAUSAUSA can be very pleased with that.

Americaaaaa - ****, yeah!!!!

Should actually give whoever they get next, Belgium?, a game

Everyone opting for the Algeria game then? If they play like last time out, it should be entertaining.

And Ronnie may be going home to that, it's just a pity he's so obviously gay. Criminal really.
