Off to Bikepark Wales on Monday, anyone know if there is wifi in the cafe, taking my wife who plans to hang out there whilst me and our boys ride.

Just send them in to town for a bit of petty violence and shoplifting.
If it's good enough for the locals and all that...

Nope, there is a sign directing people back to the old days of conversation, but it's no high moral stance, it's because they're stuck in 1998 with a half-meg-at-best internet connection and they need what they've got to run thier EPOS. There is a mild 3G signal, but it's not great.

They can't talk to each other while he's out with the kids can they? Good god, what's the world coming to, expecting someone to survive/not be bored for a couple of hours without bloody WiFi!

(OP, If your wife is disabled I apologise/understand)

Despite my flippant response, she may actually want/need to catch up on some work or do something else productive that would be easier if there was an Internet connection. Nowt wrong with that!

It's Wales in the valleys. Lucky if you even get a mobile signal at all.

I can see the argument for no WiFi to get people to talk to each other. Else it ends up like a coffee shop with everyone's head into a phone. Plus everyone posting their rad runs of the morning will saturate their connection 😀

They are off grid so EPOS and their computers etc are connected via satellite broadband that has limited width so to open it to all and sundry would be crippling. It's not cost effective for a land line to be put in seemingly

I used to live in Merthyr, been trying to think of somewhere close to suggest as something worthwhile for her to visit but I can't - probably best to take a book with her...
There is a retail park if you carry straight on at the BPW roundabout (assuming you got to it headed North on the A470) and straight on at the next roundabout then it's right at the roundabout after that. Usual retail park stores there though (I think the 'highlight' is a TKMaxx) so might not keep her busy for long (if at all).
