Can of worms time...
Threw a bunch of pics on facebook from EWS as roots and rain didn't have any for the challenge, mostly locals picking them up. When should I have posted the please credit the photographer line...
Can you explain what you're asking again - I'm really not sure I understand the question.
You don't. You ask for permission before using someone else's work.
If you put them on Facebook, don't they effectively become Facebook's anyway?

If it's not in the public domain (just being online doesn't make it public domain), without permission it's copyright theft plain and simple.
A credit may be required but you still have to ask permission.
However Creative Commons and similar licences may allow use without specifically asking permission. The public licence gives you that permission. It would be clearly marked if it's a CC rights image though.

No, and in UK copyright law you can't assign away your rights like that. You may be giving them a licence to use the photo however, but it would be to promote Facebook or use by their advertisers, not for everyone to use. You can turn off options for this I believe. If you remove the photos you are still the copyright owner and FB can no longer use them.
Sharing posts that contain the photos is a different matter. That's considered still the original post, but is just shared. Like sharing a twitter link. Doesn't constitute copying. Manually copy the photo and post it yourself, does.
I saw you had left your bike outside the trail centre café on the weekend. So I took it for a few laps.
Just wondered if I needed your permission on Tuesday, or do I post up that I enjoyed riding your bike on the forum ?
Where are the photos being used? The OP still hasn't asked a question?
