Well he might as well end as he started.
Can you imagine how shocking it would be if he had done a quietly reflective speech about his failings?
Probably have resulted in more deaths than the mishandling of covid.

I see that one of his (well, ok the government’s) acts in the commons before his resignation last night was to nominate Christopher Chope to the vacant Tory place on the Privileges committee. This is the man who regularly blocks private member’s bills such as the ones on FGM and Upskirting.

He's gone! The Queen is now fully in charge. Only for a few hours... more's the pity.

Had a great idea that after the Queen dismissed him they should have released him into the Balmoral estate with only a rambo knife. Given him 24hrs and then hunted him to the death and televised it. Like hunger games but entertaining.

What fresh hell is this?

https://conservativepost.co.uk/say-thank-you-to-the-greatest-prime-minister-in-a-generation-sign-the-boris-book/

Is this usual for a PM leaving post? Or more evidence of the cult?

Most companies insurance won't allow senior staff to travel together in case there's an accident and the company is unable to operate as effectively.
Of course UK gov is a different kettle of snakes.

Will conservative post include photos of johnson at various Downing Street get togethers during covid in the hagiography?

Doesn't seem like a "designated survivor" situation? Old guy and new girl but both the same role, johnston doesn't become PM if Truss's plane crashes.

If only there had been some way of assessing the risk, maybe by testing whether the country could run effectively without an active prime minister for a few months.

In other news, following the Russian mobilisation, they have arrived to collect on their investment with Boris.

I find it hard to believe that such an intelligent and articulate spokesperson could make such a mistake 😕 😠
That Jonathan Pie tribute should be played (on giant screens) outside de Pfeffel's future money making appearances, especially at any book signings of his Shakespeare masterpiece. 😈

Well one positive would be that there won't be an expensive bill to redecorate the flat - I'm not sure Liz had time to even change the cushions.

In some ways I hope he does win.

There's a Privileges Committee hearing about Johnson that will happen live for 3 days a week for the next few months, there are "hundreds" of witness apparently waiting to give evidence about how unfit he is to be an MP. One of their recommendations can be that the House has a debate about Suspending him and that can trigger the Recall Act.

That'll all happen just as they reinstate him him after getting rid of Truss after 45 days.

Excellent, bring it on.

Given there volume of Boris per hour mentions in the media I fear it's highly likely he'll be back. 100 nominations and there isn't really any other result than Boris Johnson vs another on the membership vote.

Wonder how many will melt away if he does return - interests of national stability and all that. Or just keeping their seat in the next election because as a return to Johnson is a return to the personality cult over party for some voters.

We could end up with an election fast if Boris gets back in. I wonder how many tory mp's will resign the whip. Some have already said they will or defect to labour

The return of Boris would be the last pathetic spasm of this government.

Anyone who wants a GE should be backing him, as it would tear the party in two.

Bring it on!
