bye election

Deserves credit.

I chickened out of the dad pun, and edited my post. Thanks for the nod though RM.

Oh, and funkmasterp, don’t do yourself down. You might make a great PM!

Presumably based on the savings from not having any ministers...

Does anyone know, is "buoyant" a media euphemism for enjoying Columbia's finest? The Guardian reports that:

'Buoyant' Johnson determined to 'fight on'

Anyone knowledgeable enough to diagnose his underlying condition? Narcissist? Sociopath? Psychopath? The man is unhinged

He's just the product of an extremely privileged upbringing where he's always got his own way, never heard the word "No" and has never been held accountable for his actions. Same as Trump. Lie, cheat, bully, it doesn't matter. In his eyes he's done nothing wrong.

Gove’s been fired!

Apart from previous history, I wonder what marks him out from the others that went to see him this evening. Do you think he was the only one with the balls to actually go through with saying what he thought when in the room alone with him?

Presumably Kwarteng also to be fired, as being public about calling him to go.

Patel and Zahawi are reportedly privately telling him to go; is that enough to fire them. Zahawi in ca 24hrs would be hilarious.

Does he have enough people to take on the (proper) cabinet jobs now? Never mind the dozens of private secretaries, etc.

I believe all those labels now are considered personality disorders. Sociopath is just a mild psychopath

I would say he has narcissistic personality disorder. Common in politics and buisness and probably caused by his upbringing. Eton is a very damaging environment

The nightmare scenario is that Starmer gets fined by Durham police early next week and resigns along with Rayner.

Johnson calls GE in desperation. Tories Tory and enough go along with GE against leaderless Labour party.

Johnson gets back in an the whole circus goes round again

Would that mean Johnson fighting a Labour Party with Miliband as a stand in leader?

I vote for chaos with Ed Miliband.

Trust me, they are looking at this and brexit and just laughing at us.

The UK govenment has collapsed, what we need is an emergency interim cross-party govenernment. I belive there are mechanisms for this in genuine times of constitutional crisis.

Believe me if Starmer gets fined he will be desperately looking for an excuse not to resign, Johnson calling a snap election would be the perfect excuse.

Although Johnson won't be calling a snap election as I don't doubt that the Queen would be advise not to dissolve parliament until the PM's position was established. The PM remains PM even after parliament has been dissolved. The Tories could still remove Johnson as leader even if parliament is dissolved.

I think the greased pigglet is dead no matter what happens. so it's almost a moot point.

The Question is, is it better he's ousted from the inside? Or should we have a GE? that's a far more complex conundrum.

The number ten insiders keep blathering on about him sticking around to grow the economy. The bit that is missing is how he will do that.
He's had nearly three years and has so far demonstrated chuff all ability to do it, let alone during the self inflicted festering wound we've currently got caused by brexit

To my mind, it's clearly an abuse of the Royal Prerogative if Boris calls a GE now, and it further highlights what a bad idea repealing the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act was.

A GE doesn't serve the national interest in any way. Boris is just desperate to hold onto power for his own sake and will cause sheer chaos to do so.

Simon Hart MP ^^ doesn't even give a reason for his resignation! Isn't it usual to think of a reason for resigning?

I guess he is assuming that no reason is necessary as everyone else is doing it and he doesn't want to miss the opportunity of a ministerial post under the next leader.

The difference between a democracy and a strongman dictatorship is that in the latter the men in grey suits would have discussed Boris’s resignation via the medium of small arms.

So the question arises, is it easier to change an unwanted leader in a democracy or a dictatorship. Discuss.

Please note this is an intellectual discussion and I am not advocating the use of force to remove PMs who have overstayed their welcome.

34 Neville Chamberlain 2 years, 348 days
35 Boris Johnson 2 years, 347 days

So I have a letter written by her in my house somewhere, and she is telling me that BoJo is the right person for the job and 100% has her backing and support.
I think she might need to write to me again and admit that she is a poor judge of character

I love the idea of Boris doing a Trump and instigating an uprising

Trumps supporters were/are all tooled up survivalists from Idaho with a stack of assault rifles and a pick up truck, Boris’s core voters are pensioners from Eastbourne with a collection of China teapots
