This weekend I am mainly making fruit booze. (With a ride or two thrown in!)

I have already made some plum rum: lots of plums in Morgan's Spiced.

Am waiting for a frost, but will be getting some Sloe Gin on the way soon.

I have some rhubarb, loads of apples and plenty of frozen blackberries.

-Anyone have any good ideas or recipes for steeping fruit in alcohol? It should all hopefully be ready for around the festive season, for dinners, hipflasks and making into pud. mmm.... pud.

blackberry brandy

simply mix brandy with blackberries and a bit of sugar. Leave for approx 3 months.
You can then extract and eat the fruit e,g, with icecream
Oh I've just found a hidden jar from last year which should keep me warm over winter.

Vodka tomato's:

Blanch and peel some tomato's, put them in a large jar with an air tight lid.

Add some dried chilli's, celery salt, tabasco sauce.
Add vodka leave for at least a month in a cool place.

When you want a drink fish out a tomato liquidize and add some of the vodka. Instant Bloody mary.

Boerenjongens (literally 'Young Farmers' in Dutch) - basically boozy raisins.

I've only ever eaten the raisins, either on ice cream or pancakes over there. Don't know what happens to the liquor. But having worked in kitchens as a youth, I'm pretty sure it gets drunk.

Why just bung them in the freezer.

I've got a couple of litres of bramble whiskey maturing. Also a little bramble Southern Comfort, just to see if its any good.

Might be too late, sloes have been ripe for ages this year.

I've got over 2 litres on the go already and about 2.5kg of sloes in the freezer. It's been a bumper crop this yr.

I've got 3l of sloe gin and 1.5l of blackberry and ginger gin on the go. From memory, used about 600g of fruit per litre, with 300g/l sugar with the blackberries and a bit more with the sloes.

Would vodka tomatoes count as one of my five-a-day?
