Tried to boot up my home desktop yesterday evening and the hard-drive clicked about once every ten seconds for a while and then a "BOOTMGR not found" error message appeared...
I fear that there is physical damage and so I'll struggle to get it running myself but will at least give it a go anyway so was wondering if anyone ideas as to what I could try?
Some other info:
- I booted up from a Vista installation CD and tried the "repair" option but the Vista partition didn't appear in the relevant dialog box
- I booted up to a "light" version of XP on a CD and while that could see my other 2 hard-drives (I have 3 in total) it couldn't see the dodgy one
- However a partition manager tool could see all 3 hard-drives, as well as the underlying partitions on each physical drive (this gives me slight hope)
There is some data I would like to get back although I have copies of most of the important stuff.
All ideas appreciated!
