I'm off on holiday soon and need to update the library.

Read anything decent recently?

For a little lunacy, try some Jasper Fforde.
For a little comedy, some PG Wodehouse
For some cerebral historical fascination, some Peter Hopkirk, notably "The Great Game"

I finally got around to reading Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's (2007 Orange Prize winner) Half of a yellow sun - which was good, but rather uneven. Very moving at its best, though.

Am currently enjoying J.G. Farrell's Troubles - funny and sad.

That looks interesting. OK - four ordered, despatched Monday hopefully!

Any more will have to go in the basket for next month.

8)

Flashy - went for Jasper Fforde's "The Eyre Affair" in the end

Good call!

He hs two main series running, and the Eyre is in the Thursday Next one. Silly, lunatic and yet rather clever! The other main series, with Jack Spratt, is alos marvellous. "The Big Over Easy" sees Spratt investigating the murder of Humpty Aloysious Dumpty. Genius!

Thursday is a fascinating character. His books can be hard to 'get in to', but worth the effort.

The other series is but one book no, "Shades of Grey". Promising stuff, more a study of humanity than the others, but fasicnating.

Shades of Grey (Fforde) is fantastic, I really enjoyed that.

Currently reading Koontz' Odd Thomas series, just finished the second one and looking forward to the next.

Mike Carey's Felix Castor series are great.

Christopher Brookmyre is an entertaining read too.
