Proper old school adventure about the 1953 Everest expedition, written by The Times’ embedded reporter.

The author has had something of an exciting and varied life too!

I think I’ll re-read A short Walk in The Hindu Kush next.

Jan Morris's Pax Britannica books are excellent, fantastic writer. Not familiar with the Everest expedition one though, I shall have to take a look.

Yes agree with you on that. Fantastically evocative, balanced and readable history of the "Empire". Must read it again soon!
