so I have a bad(?) habit of not getting out of bed till my bladder is fit to burst.

trouble is, after a couple too many efforts and a couple subsequent dull aches in said bladder area I now appear to have lost flow strength.

Whereas I would pride myself on my racehorse like 50psi flow that would strip paint, I now make do with what I reckon is a 30-40% reduction in flow with a boring drawn out ending..

Have I ruined my bladder?
Can I fix it?
Is this simply the onset of older age?

Damn, its just dawned on me. I should get my prostate examined shouldnt I.

Get it sorted now before it becomes a serious problem.

If you have an infection you'd have pain urinating and / or the urine would smell foul eg piss in a glass and it would stink or rotting flesh (been there, done that, got the T-shirt, lost 10% of my kidneys).

Enlarged prostate is more likely and is very common and mostly benign. See your GP, they may just leave it, or if it gets very bad, they can ream it and enlarge the hole for the urethra (my Dad had this done a few years ago).

Could also be a prostrate infection - not very nice, the antibiotics needed are rather unpleasant - 6 weeks on Ciprofloxacin is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. NB They also prescribed me the max dose of Ibuprofen for 6 weeks solid, to reduce the inflamation, not that I had any trouble pissing, just that all I was pissing blood / puss rather than urine....

ouch.

Well I drink plenty of water and urinate frequently, which is almost always clear with no pain at all.
Just a lack of pressure compared to, well, what I remember. I think its been the case for a good 6 months or so.

No discharge, smell etc..

Please God, not the prostate ream..

Sounds like Prostaitis which i currently have a course of antibiotics for 4 weeks and it should be sorted. Worst case is a rigid cystoscopy and a scrape of your prostate to get rid of the infected skin.
