I can't say I'm a fan of the UK honours system (or perhaps it's more the false praise lauded on the recipients) but given the events this weekend I think [url= http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-40301429 ]this is deserved[/url].
Hidden amongst the celebrity bollocks - many of whom do actually get the gongs for charity work - and political nonsense, the majority of honours go to ordinary hard working folk who do a lot of good for their communities.
The press tend to ignore that though, doesn't get the clickbait haters clicking through.
I take the view that it's a flawed system but overall is a Good Thing. Like most of UK life, to be honest.
Yup what MoreCash says, look at the list fully there's some great recognitions in there.

The honours system is a good idea but the implementation and the skewing of the choice of recipient is the real problem
Its getting better but t is still deeply flawed.
