impressed by some of the large tentage at strathpuffer recently my oh has suggested we get one that'll cover us, the bikes, all our gear and, what with summer coming, keep the midgies out.

we're currently looking at the outwell hartford (which looks huge to me) but thought we'd canvas (sic) the stw wisdom first.

bell tents are great, had one as a kid, used to all lug it down to the woods/river and hang it from a big branch, peg it all out and take the sides off, just great, I want one now!

bell tents +1

Lived in one for 6 months and it was perfect. Will buy another one for this summer.

We have a Wild Country Halo 104, massive is an understatement. So much so we're looking for something smaller to save us on jumbo pitch fees, and also we're camping on Jersey this summer and don't want a fork out an extra 200 quid for the trailer.

Buy an Outwell. Make sure it pitches outer first, If it's really big, look for Steel Poles.

If you're near Sunderland, I can sell you a great Nebraska XL

This is ours

We made the mistake of buying a large tent that was way too big. It filled most of the car boot and took ages to put up, so we used it a couple of times and then sold it as it was too much hassle for weekend camping trips, which most of ours are.

Last year we bought an Outwell Nevada M, which is very good. It doesn't take long to put up, and has plenty of space inside. We bought an optional front extension which really gives a lot more versatility (especially in the rain!).

We bough an Outwell Montana 6 last tear and it was fab. I particularly like the storm door at the side (which keeps the inside clean and dry) and it'a ability to have lots of ventilation and light while keeping the insects out. There's a video on youtube showing one person erecting it really quickly.
