That was a very, very dodgy moment in the office.

Can we get a preview function back please (if this was a genuine error on rudeboy's part, then preview would have avoided it)

If that's going white, cold sweat, feeling of violation & fear, then yes!

Its a fine line between being "outsourced" and gross misconduct isnt it.....

Obviously not a multi-tasker. Maybe he should only look at one page at a time?

To be fair to RudeBoy:

If he went to a website, saw a perfectly "decent" image and decided to link to it then that is the image he would see here (even in a Preview), because it is already in his cache.

Now if that site doesn't like people hotlinking to its images and actually serves up an "indecent" image to anyone that does, then RudeBoy has no way of knowing that. (Unless he clears his cache or forces a full page refresh with ctrl+F5)

What would be the point (or the fun) in that?

Incidentally that's why it is a good idea to put a link to the original site when you link to its images - they get much less upset if you're actually generating visits for them, rather than just stealing their bandwidth

e.g.

Everyone needs to take responsibility for what they post. he will think twice about hotlinking to images in future and will make sure the image that appears is the correct one.

There IS an Edit function.

C'mon folks, for the A&A to truly succeed, a little slef control is on order!

Keep it clean, people!

(By the way, this thread now has the best tag ever.....! Thanks, whoever that was!)

Agreed Mark - BUT.. there is currently no way to check that the image that appears is the one that you intend without posting it first (as there is currently no Preview function) and even then it requires knowledge of how to flush or bypass the browser cache (Ctrl+F5 in Firefox).

And as for hotlinking: ALL the images on this thread are hotlinks and are held on websites that the posters do not own. So even if they do look okay right now, those websites could decide to change them tomorrow and we'd end up with a page of filth.

GENUINE, HUMBLE, SINCERE APOLOGIES TO EVERYONE!

I never, never intended for anything like this to happen. Brant, I am really sorry that your little one had to witness whatever nastiness it was.

In all innocence, all I thought I'd done, was post an image of the bloke out of Hellraiser, like the one above. That's all. an image I found on google, and one that's hosted by allposters.com. I have emailed Allposters, to inform them of this, and told them to sort this issue out.

When I posted the image, it appeared on my computer as the Hellraiser on. I haven't even seen the offending image. If I return to the allposter image, it does not link to any other image. therefore, I had no idea that an obscene and offensive image had appeared to everyone else.

I don't find this at all amusing, and am really angry that something like this can happen. I appreciate that people might have children who could see the images, or that they may be at work, or just find such images sick and offensive. I don't find it acceptable that such an image could appear from a genuinely innocent attempt to post a completely different image.

I can understand people being angry with me, but once again, it was a genuine mistake.

Thank you to Mark and TomDB, for being understanding, and believing me.

So, to everyone; I'm really, really sorry. I'll do my best, to make sure something like this never happens again.

RB.

cheesy, I reckon GrahamS is probably right - that somebody swapped images over as a sort of punishment

(surely he only cut & pasted the image location, rather than type it out wrongly)

I still think an A&A is not intended to be work safe as it is bound to be a bit risky. I wouldnt open it at work or if my son was about.

Thanks, RudeBoy, the thread appreciates the apology!

BigYinn, A&A is a simple concept, dreamt up by yours truly to replace the rather tired concept of Kylie. In essence, it is all about those who are both athletic AND aesthetic (Hence A&A). Always wanted this to be clean, and as it happens, open to the ladies and chap's chaps of STW as much as it is to those of us who like looking at the ladies! I'd prefer to see it remain as worksafe as we can, to be honest.

So, here's to keeping it as clean as we can and long may the A&A survive!

NO.. Absolutely disagree.. Everything.. and I really mean EVERYTHING that is posted should be worksafe. If we think it isn't we will remove it. This forum has no 'safe' zones.

As for similar situations to this that happen our policy is to ban first ask questions later. Rudeboy was banned then it was all cleared up and he was back posting within an hour. The preview function will be back.

The preview function will be back.

The preview button would not make any difference and any photo on this thread could be replaced by any other photo at any time.

emarketingmag.com, **** or scottusa.com could replace the three images CFH has posted with any other image they liked. They would look fine for CFH, and probably anyone else who sees those originals, but new viewers could see anything.

A Preview button would NOT have helped as he would still have seen the image that was in his cache, not the one that everyone else would see.

I am beginning to find the whole thing a little amusing. Problem is I keep having the image of a freshly waxed and baby oiled ass flash up in my head!!!

I'll never be able to use the phrase "bang the back doors in" again without 'that' image appearing in my mind 🙄 😯 😐

I think I might refrain from trying to post pictures of pretty sporty ladies, in light of what happened. 😯

Can I just say, that I completely agree with, and respect the decisions taken by the moderators of this site. I'm glad that immediate action was taken, to limit the 'damage' caused.

I must be the only person not to see the offending image. For which I suppose I'm grateful.

I still have no idea as to how it happened. I suppose it's only other people who viewed the thread could actually see it, anyway, and that I, as the poster, would never see it.

I'm using a Mac, with Safari. Would this make any difference? Naturally, had I seen the offending image appear on the thread, in place of the one I intended, I would have removed the link straight away. I thought Brant's first comment was a joke, tbh; relating to the scary Hellraiser image!

I'd be grateful if someone could advise me on how to check images in future. As already mentioned; Preview would not have worked, in this case.

(Goes off to look at pictures of plain ladies, in baggy clothing, just to be on the safe side)
