What type of van, it may be best to look for a dealer that specialise in the van you want ?

Autotrader and ebay are your best bet. Don't be tempted into auctions as a private buyer the fees and VAT always make the deals you can find elsewhere better.
Ebay is generally the cheapest place and look out for vans owned by small businesses/people so you don't have VAT to worry about on top.

Ebay seconded - vehicles on there never seem to attract the same final sale value as most on AutoTrader.
