Get a ferry to France and just keep driving South.
You will eventually end up in Provence. 😉

We flew easyjet to Nice and then hired a car. Without bikes. You can also fly into Marseille but it was more expensive for us so we drove a bit further.

With bikes you may be better driving as you'll be able to take more and less chance of damaging bikes. Becomes even more worthwhile if you fill or nearly fill vehicles and can share the driving.

Surely an Aston is the best way to any part of France

Jet2.com Leeds/Bradford to Nice; hire a car when you get there. You're in the air for less time than it takes to go by train from Leeds to London.

of course, you need to be somewhere near Leeds/Bradford for this to make any sense...

That was really helpful wasn't it? 😯

I would recommend a private jet, to be honest. Something like the Embraer run by Twinjet. The owner of said jet is a keen cyclist as well, so the crew are well trained to handle bikes.

any other cheap suggestions

stay away from St Tropez.

If you must go, don't go by road

drive is around 10/11 hourse from dieppe. Plane can be quite cheap/convenient. If you could get a cheap plane fare even to Paris you could take the train.
But when I lived in England I use to fly all the time it was the most convenient/cheap.
