Morning all

I'm about to commence construction of this little beauty which has been lurking in the back of the cupboard for a while now:

What's the consensus on the best place to purchase a battery, charger and RC kit?

Ta in advance

For batteries and charger I'd recommend www.componentshop.co.uk

For the RC gear I'd use modelsport unless you've got a good model shop nearby, ideally one that specializes in RC cars.

What's that kit Beamers? I'm sure it's the same as the third hand tamya I had as a kid.

It will be the same; Tamiya have been re-manufacturing their older R/C kits over the last several years:

Wonder if you could fit more modern lipo batteries...

Good Link si77, I need some for mine to rebuild for the kids (ok, rebuild for me and the kids might get a go!) 😆

I had one of the originals as a kid. When I saw the re-issued one in a shop last year I couldn't resist buying it. They re-issued it in 2009 to mark the 30th anniversary of the original and I kicked myself for not getting one back then.

The metalwork is better quality than the original and all of the brass bushes are now little cartridge bearings. It should run much better than the original.

Thanks for the links above.

I always got more out of building R/C kit cars than actually using them; with the exception of the crawler. The lipo and brushless motor buggies I built and trashed were too fast for my middle-aged hand to eye coordination! 😥

Giantshark for batteries and Radio.
Flysky radio's are one of the best budget brands around, unless you want to pay stupid money for one of the big names.

The modelsport forum is also pretty good for UK based advise.
