Hi, I've got a David Mellor Abacus 700 chair that I was going to put on eBay. I can't find any mention of another for sale though, so think I should try and get a rough valuation first. I've had no luck locally, as anyone just makes me an offer instead! Cheers.

Google retro furniture shops ( trendy one's, not junk shops ) ask them if they have one. If not do they get them in and how much you might have to pay for one.

Thanks for the replies. I can't find any trace of one being sold, either on eBay or anywhere else - frustratingly, you can now buy a print of said chair, so that often pops up instead.
Taxi25 - I think that's what I'm going to have to do. Cheers.

We bought some stuff from this place in Glasgow

They specialise in Ercol, G-Plan etc from the 70's. Might be worth a call.

Difficult to find much online, but seeing there's 700 series chairs in the Design Museum and the V&A might be worth hanging on to...(happy for it to 'rest' in my house if you need the space!)

What condition is it in? If be interested in it, particularly if you're not "too far" away from London.

Thanks for the other replies/offers, etc. I'm not sure whether to eBay it or find a corner for it! I'd be kicking myself if I accept an offer on here and then see another for a lot more.

Surely Ikea do this sort of thing? Probably about £20.

😛

p.s. A picture of one costs £55 ! http://shop.suchandsuch.co/products/david-mellor-anniversary-700-series-chair-1975-limited-edition-print

It is, deadkenny, but the top part is chrome. It's bigger and heavier than it looks in the photo.
I bet loads were thrown away out of offices in the 80's. They were pitched as being for outdoor use, too, but I bet the chrome soon rusted.

Captainsasquatch - if the album had been a signed Telly Savalas one I'd have dropped it off tonight!
