Need to play Christmas songs in my shop.
Sick to death of all the usual. I have an excellent album by The Duallers in a ska style.
Suggestions please.

If you want people's heads to start exploding then you could play them this on a perpetual loop;

Lily the Pink, The Scaffold.

A Christmas number one way back so counts as Christmassy without being about Christmas (bizarrely I heard it two years ago whilst queueing to see Santa in his Grotto).

A bloody annoying song though.

Ta everyone, will get on Spotify and check them out.
To everyone who wonders about why we play Christmas songs. We sell a lot of Christmas gift and it puts people in the mood.There are some people out there who absolutely love Christmas. We get phone calls in September to see if our cards and advent calendars are in yet. Personally I've never really gone in for Christmas but i seem to be a minority. Everyday i see the happiness it brings and not even i am enough of a bah humbug to deny them their pleasure.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Not playing Jennifer bloody Rush though.

My God, another John Prine fan!

Simon and Garfunkel have done a lot of 'wintery' songs, always remind me of Christmas.

Joni Mitchell's The River is Christmassy, and Kate Rusby has done two albums of Yorkshire traditional folk seasonal songs. Shawn Colvin did a lovely album called Holiday Songs And Lullaby's, which you ought to be able to find fairly easily. The Waitresses Christmas Rapping is a long-time favourite, it pops up on my phone pretty regularly, to my delight. Tori Amos has an album of classic and original seasonal songs called Midwinter Graces, and released a single called Spark some years ago, CD1 has Purple People (Christmas In Space and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas on it, the last track is absolutely wonderful, I think one of the best versions of the song ever. It was used in a Christmas episode of Bones, very effectively too.
