following on from JB's action thread:

Haven't seen it for a while but love the final chase from Luc Besson's Taxi (not the crap american remake), totally fantasy (machine gun apparently constantly missing the car & the 'ending') but it does it for me more than Steve McQueens Bullet car chase (looked slow and unwieldly - which given the car it probably was), never thought the car seen in Ronin (or actually the film) was any good, maybe the Blue Brother chase just for the pure chaos.

Any more for any more..

VANISHING POINT!
The entire film is one existential car chase.

Does the original Italian Job count as a car chase or is the whole film just a 'caper'? How about the James Bond film where he's in Paris and gets the back end of his Renault 11 swiped off. Can't remember the name, but may have been View to a Kill.

The tanker chase in Licence to Kill remains one of the best vehicle stunts I have ever seen.

ET except their on BMXs. Still a good chase though. Bob Haro was riding one of the bikes and pulling 'sick airs' or whatever the saying was back in 1982.

I still like the car chase in Ronin, proof that even dodgy old Mercedes were a match for brand new Citroens and Peugots.

Does Duel count as a car chase? I mean, the whole film was about being in a car and being chased... And what about the Mini car chase in the original Bourne film? Or the start of the first Transporter?

All good...

The final chase from The Driver is very good indeed.

Agree totally with the Taxi chase, excellent bit of the film and a very good soundtrack to go with it.

Mini chase from Bourne is very good too.

Dead Pool car chase is good too with the explosive RC cars

The opening scene from 'Convoy' with Ali McGraw in an E-type Jag and Rubber Duck in his Mack chasing her down to the song of the same name by C.W McCall.

Still makes the hairs on my neck stand up when I watch it.

Can we include trains?

The Wrong Trousers - Feathers McGraw chasing Wallace and Grommit on the model railway with Grommit puting down spare track like his life depended on it while bullets bounce off his lampshade helmet.

Class.

Too right, the taxi films (the original french ones) are amazing, any car chase that ends with tanks and a flying car is a good one in my book, oh and about 90 cop cars getting totalled

French Connection
Bullitt
Duel

And does Rendezvous count? Only one car...

I love the one from 'Children of Men' when Clive Owen et al are trying to escape from the crusties, rolling down the hill with them all running after him trying to get the car to start, very tense moment..

The car chase in the 2nd Bourne film at the end is quite good too.

Ronin was amazing because it was really shot in central Paris, a lot of the cars in it are "civilians".
I also have a soft spot for the starting sequence car chase in Quantum of Solice. Play that in Blue Ray on a decent sound system and it blows you away. The subtle almost silent camera pan across lake Garda, camera reaches the tunnnel....then VROOOOOM....Aston martin V12 and gun fire. Blew me away. [shame the rest of the film was crap]
