I am after a thicknesser to clean up some wood on my house than I am renovating (read rebuilding), so I have been looking around and the Axminister one's, anyone on here used one?
or ..... can anyone recommend another model? (or even know of a second hand one for sale that is any good)
Can't comment on the planer but most of their own brand tools are pretty solid but need a bit of fiddling to get them working right. They are a nice company to deal with if that makes a difference. Try pennyfarthingtools for used ones. You need to phone them as stuff is usually sold before they have time to put it on-line.
Cool, thanks for the tip I will give them a call.
I've got there table saw and sander and they are both very good, as well as hand tools. Good company all round IMO.
I have one of these

But i use a few Axminster bit n bobs, all works pretty well and good value.
If you are only doing a few hundred metres then im sure it would be fine.
Does it have to be a benchtop thicknesser. I've got a floor standing planer thicknesser I've been meaning to put on ebay for a while. One of these:
It's an elektra beckum HC260. Specs here.
sorry for the long delay, wasn't on here over the weekend. Where are you and how much would you be after for the elektra?
(I will email as well)
