We will be in touch
Tree bees apparently. Can't be that many of them to want to build their den in a bird box I suppose. There's around 40 to 50 constantly hovering around the box. If I use my noisy lawn mower will they come and get me?
leave them if you can - too few bees around these days.
Leave them - especially if one of the reasons you have a bird box is to help struggling species, as wwaswas says, bees are struggling too.
Leave them, no bird will go in there now anyway, might as well spend the season with beas instead.
Only reason I asked really is that, while they don't bother me, the nest is near my boundary fence and the neighbours have children. I think Tree Bees can get a bit lairy if disturbed.
Bees are pretty chilled, great to have in the garden. You're only likely to get stung if you try and catch one in your hand.
Most of our plants in the garden are bee friendly.
Aren't all bees protected?
Leave 'em be.
Or should that be 'bee'?
Let them chill. Forget the kids there are loads of them around these days.

Torch it...Or at least go talk to your neighbours for their view.
Everyone is too worried about kids getting stung. Kids need to get stung every once in a while and anyway, bees rarely sting, it's usually wasps that give out the pain. Bees are well aware they'll likely die so tend to save it for real threats.
From a wildlife site:
Tree bees are not generally aggressive and will not sting unless handled roughly or they feel that the nest is under attack. Male bees do not have stings, although worker bees do - nests should be observed quietly from a few metres away.
Leave 'em alone, and they'll do the same would be my guess 🙂

Can a bee be said to be, or not to be, an entire bee, when half the bee is not a bee, due to some ancient injury?

I'd leave them.
If they were wasps on the other hand then.......
.....dust off and nuke them from orbit, only way to be sure.

Won't Someone Think of the Children?!
Bees are well aware they'll likely die
Are they?!
Leave them there.. We have heard a continuous buzzing noise coming from our attic above our bedroom, and have discovered that bumble bees have moved in! Decided to put up with the noise as they will all die off apart from the new queen this winter, when she hibernates and then goes of to set up a new colony next spring. Going to investigate once the buzzing has stopped, clear out the debris and try to secure the roof so they cant get in again. Far too few bees about these days.
If the bees are causing an issue, I think you can contact your local beekeeping association to come and remove them. Bees are nice though, don't kill them. 🙁
bees are ace. dad has some in his bird box too.
check facts on the type of bee before you act. But even when bees get right in your face and fly round you all they are doing is checking you out because they know you weren't there before, they're mapping you basically. A mate's brother did his thesis in bees and they really are utterly remarkable...
Wasps on the other hand are total ****.
Look for a local house selling honey and go have a chat with the bee keeper, I'm sure they'll know more than the 'hive' mind. 😆 🙄
ho ho ho.
love bees
They don't wake me up before sunrise like the fricken birds do. Why do the little bastards make so much noise first thing in the morning? By 7 o'clock it's all quiet again gah
