I’ve fallen asleep 3times on the sofa today.
I went for a run in some local woods and called in at the doctors for a repeat prescription, it was snowing lightly at the time. About lunchtime it snowed heavily and all the kids were out throwing shapes in the wind with he dry snow.. looked ace for about 10mins.
Then I fell asleep for most of the afternoon, only waking because I needed a wee..

Was told to leave work early, as it only took twenty five minutes to get to work on the tube and the weather seemed to have got better when I went out for a sandwich I decided to stay at work a bit longer. Did have a slightly earlier fining and have a bit of heel rub from my boots which was quite dangerous, well annoying. Fell asleep on sofa on return home, maybe there should be a sofa warning issued?
Just got some skiing in down the driveway, although the neighbours garden off piste was running much better.

Honestly BikeBouy I think your wasted on here, you should give FaceBook a go.

Drove an hour in to work today from Edinburgh to Kincardine, it was considerably worse than the traffic cameras suggested. Even with winter tyres the depth of drifts and the white outs in exposed areas were trouser stiffening. I had the chains in the car and thought I might need them on the way home. Lots of mad maxed up 4x4's prowling the outside lane on the motorway LOL.
TBH it was a mistake going out, even tooled up with tyres and chains. The joys of self employment
11km ski tour for me today - left from our front door, about 10 miles north of Glasgow.
Went out to my car this morning and saw on the bonnet a cock and balls drawn in the snow. Kids these days eh.
I tell you all what though, we’re bloody lucky it’s only a myth though or we’d be in trouble!
Heath Centre is shut, but the offie is open. What a glorious nation!
30 mile an hour winds in Rossendale gusting to 60, significant powder snow on the tops (where I live) lots of drifting, drive is free of snow but the snow is 3ft deep against the front door. Heatings on and we have beer so no dramas.
Daffy Jnr’s school closed at lunchtime, and so left work early to play in the snow, but being working class, I’ve never experienced powder snow before and it’s pretty useless for snowballs and snowmen. That was at 15:00 and it was about an inch deep. It’s now 3” deep and the heavy stuff is due to hit tomorrow morning.
The pond is frozen to about an inch thick.
We have wine, milk, coffee and food...it’ll be reet
It's carnage round here (north of Peterborough) but seems to be mainly due to people driving like absolute tools.
We've managed (lift share) a couple of days to work in snowy conditions (40 miles each way) but some people seem incapable of making it to the next village without sticking their car in a ditch.
Our area seems to be constantly on the traffic news. We've got several inches of snow, laying on top of a thick layer of ice. The main roads are ok, but the back roads are a bit slippy and there are drifts building across the road from all the snow blowing off the fields.
Yesterday was -8 when I left for work and it only reached -4 in the day.
Today we had a positively balmy -1.5.
Supposed to be getting colder tomorrow too, so will see what it's like in the morning and maybe stay at home

Just a guess but maybe the staff for the offie are all local.
I'm down to one crate of homebrew and two demijohns of wine.
Apparently people cannot get up the hill in our part of town - fair enough - but they are leaving their cars in the middle of the road. FFS. If you can't get up a hill you can at least back up and manoeuvre to the side of the road.
Honestly BikeBouy I think your wasted on here, you should give FaceBook a go.
Well, I don’t have any “followers” over there 🤷♂️💣
FFS .Like I haven't seen enough, you can watch 2 hours of "the Big Freeze" on channel 5 right now .
I went into work late. Did some stuff from home early on the headed in. Car just isn't an option, I can't even get that off my road. Trains were running but very sporadic and not really to any sort of timetable. So I rode in on the MTB, canal towpath all the way. Was lovely, really stunning ride in. Snow was powdery, not too deep, easy to ride and grippy and there was a steady tailwind.
We all got sent home at 3.30 as the weather worsened but with the greatly increased wind there was no way I was prepared to try riding. Managed to get the train most of the way back leaving me 4 miles into a near blizzard head/cross wind along the canal. I was wrecked by the time I arrived home!
Fatbike for a couple of hours this am. I worked up a real sweat, and had to admit defeat in the larger thigh deep drifts, though it worked well on the smaller stuff. Goggles essential.
One of our friends lives a mile or so outside of the village, but is home alone with 2 young kids and was down to her last firelighter, so my wife and I xc skied out with more. They have 4wd with winter tyres, but they are going nowhere soon. The last 1/2 mile to their house had multiple 5' drifts and will require a snowblower (Perth & Kinross Council has (I think) only 1) or more likely a JCB. Any action is irrelevant though, as the current drifting would fill it in again in a couple of hours. It looks like were going back tomorrow with milk.
More than a foot lying in Edinburgh and the place has ground to a halt: No buses, taxis (except a couple of Uber ones), shops schools and businesses mainly closed. The council must be losing a fortune as the traffic wardens have been off since Tuesday! Thing is, the folk who really have to get to work, are getting to work; hospital staff and care workers. I went for a physio appointment at the ERI on the opposite side of the town (I've got winter tyres on the motor) and the Physio said she'd walked an hour & a half to get to her work that morning. Ditto my MIL's carer walking 2 miles home in a blizzard (I did offer to drive her). I've been getting my joinery work done but I do need the suppliers to be open so I can get some gear.
The Forth of Firth (as Clare Balding described it today on Ramblings) is looking stunning with monster surfing waves (some guys I know have been out in it!); went for a XC ski after work,
My boiler just nearly shook itself off the wall, causing me to crap my pants and turn it off, and at the same time realising the kitchen sink wasn't draining.
Apparently I have discovered the perils of not insulating pipes - am in process of semi-boiling several kettles of water...bloody hope this fixes it tonight 🙂
I’ve no idea why my pics always come out sideway!
Getting deep now and still snowing. Mrs has got to hike to work in the morning ha ha ![]()
..and as I google I seem to have found a parallel universe across the pond inhabited by folk that are more STW than STW.

I can’t help but think flooding is going to be an issue in a few days. This weather front is due to end mid-week and when it does average temps are going to jump from -5c with windchill to +10 pretty much over-night. That’s going to be a hell of a thaw!
Yep, but don't worry it was worse once before.....
Heard so many idiots complaining that the UK isn't prepared like the Nordic countries, I mean we don't even barcode our navy.but this is a rare event rather than expect to carry on as usual the people getting stuck and doing the "well somebody has to keep the country running" people need to realise they are only getting in the way of the people trying to keep the country running.

Probably the condensation pipe frozen up, there was someone on the telly earlier with a similar problem, a jug of boiled water poured on the pipe melted it ok.
