[Closed] BBC Radio disappeared from iTunes?

After ages of listening to BBC radio via iTunes on my Mac, it now seems to have disappeared. Even the BBC radio widget doesn't work now!
The only way I can now listen is through the BBC site itself (ball ache).

This seems to have started since the last OS X update.....

Anyone on here having this problem or any work around?

BBC iPlayer app ? I don't have my Mac at the moment so not 100% sure, the app may just direct you to the BBC website

They've changed their streaming - it doesn't work on my Denon network stereo thing either.

There isn't an iPlayer app for OS X, although there should be!

I've even tried other radio apps for OS X and while all other stations work fine, BBC is showing on the app, it just doesn't connect?

Ah so that would be the problem then....

Quote:

Currently the Windows Media Audio format is estimated to be used by devices belonging to up to 5% of the BBC's internet radio listeners - but it has now been switched off because it was becoming too expensive to operate, Mr Scott said.

So my £145 a year isn't enough then......

I have a Logitech Squeezebox Duet streamer and this has affected me too.

I found this workaround for Logitech equipment which allows BBC radio live streaming via another route: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/MySqueezebox-com-Squeezebox/Squeezebox-and-Smart-Radio-support-for-BBC/m-p/1366605

Not sure if it'll help the OP, but hopefully this may be of use to someone on here.

BBC radio is still on iTunes on my PC, so it is in the itunes ecosystem still, maybe you need to update itunes if the protocol has changed.

6 Music streaming ok on Yosemite with iTunes 12.1.050 here. Possible software update required.

Edit 1 OP the problem is not with the amount of money we pay for public service broadcasting but the money Microsoft want for using their software. As a public service the BBC has to get value for money for us and not throwing a large wedge at Microsoft for software that can be replace by open source or cheaper proprietary types is good business sense.

Edit 2 Phantom Gorilla have an unofficial widget that works on the dashboard (version 4.61 available here)
