I buried so much time into BF3, but i still suspect that might be peak Battlefield.
I liked that it was heavy, and slow. You didnt run around like a tank on rollerskates, but could feel the weight of your guy, and equipment. no bit of kit was ideal, and every bit of kit was useful and usable.

Not sure if this looks like its getting a bit "silly"
having said that, i never played BFV, so dont know what happened there.

I enjoyed BF1, but they did kind of back themselves into a corner with WW1 in terms of what makes BF great.

dont really have the time to invest in the MP experience these days, pesky kids.

I'm still playing bf4 after being disappointed with bf1.
Recently started playing hardcore servers and loving it as it's more tactical.

I will probably get this new bf, fingers crossed it will play as good as it looks.

Neebs Gaming said that it looks like Battlefield had finally embraced their inner crazy with the whole "eject, RPG the plane, get back int he plane" thing. Maybe that is what people need these days, fun whilst they shoot the crap out of other people.

That was a move pulled in BF194 Desert Combat mod. There were a few other tricks in the preview trailer for that too. I think Dice showed them on purpose. I loved BF1 thought it was great. Never got away with BF3. BF V I just didnt play, got distracted by other games.

i dread to think of the hundreds of hours of life i have sunk into the BF games. Whilst they have all had thier issues, i have enjoyed all of them. BF1 & V being great due to the addition of Grand Operations.

I am hoping that the gameplay trailer shown is maximum attack for excitement and glamour, with the actual game being a bit less hollywood and more traditional BF. It should be a banger!

BF Bad Company 2 has been the pinnacle of the series for me, never topped since. Time is limited now so can't invest 100s of hours to unlock stuff needed to stand a chance of not insta-dying, which I think the subsequent games have suffered from (although haven't played BFV so can't comment on that).

EDIT: Thinking further on this, I think another thing I loved about BFBC2 was that as each team was only 12 players, a well organised 3/4 man squad could carry a round, so you felt like you were really making a difference. On later games with a higher player count the maps were such that it felt more and more like a giant mess, and got harder and harder to really feel like you were actually contributing much. Although the trailer looks epic because there's so much going on, my concern would be that more players doesn't actually mean more fun.

Like all the BF series(and games in general) you need to get in at the beginning when everyone is mad for it. Then you get big battles and a hell of a lot of fun and variety.
After a while it tails off with more players leaving for other new releases and it can become a bit samey.
This looks very good, and 128 players are bound to make a huge difference to gameplay.

I play Arma 3 and Planetside 2 ,both have big player numbers and that I find makes it more fun in that it provides a greater variety of play experience. More areas with more going on if its not working out, move to a different sector.

Battlefield is warfare, cod is a shoot em up really. both are great, but very different styles of games. Worth playing both, I always have.

Not my sort of game at all generally, but by christ that looks good.

If it supports a HOTAS and I can spend all day raining down death from above, I'll be on that like a tramp on chips.

Holy thread resurrection, batman!
I'm just getting into playing battlefield 5 (pc) ahead of the release of 2042. I haven't really played since bf3 so would appreciate some new squad members if anyone fancies baby sitting me while I get into the swing of things again. Gamertag is 1OP-C4T on origin.

Did anyone get chance to try the open beta a couple of weeks ago? Any thoughts?

I did, it was terribly buggy, not very fun and worse than the previous 3 main Battlefield games in almost every way. Will not be buying based on the experience I (and others I know) had.

(Xbox Series X).

i played the Beta, and whilst it did have some issues, i did enjoy it and felt the potential was there.

Since it they have done surveys and announced a fair few changes/improvements from the early feedback they received.

The map was pretty big, so there was a fair amount of running between capture points. But i prefer the more objective focuses game modes.

I will still be getting it and am looking forward to it.

(also on Xbox series X)

Played BETA on PC, maps were very big so on foot moving around felt like marathon running.

Graphics were slick and my pc is certainly not.

Have ordered and look forward to it.

Reminded me on BF4 which in my mind is a good thing.

Played on PC, wasn't impressed.

Firstly it was very poorly optimised. I can run BF5 maxed out at 144FPS (on a 1080p monitor), but I couldn't run BF2042 above medium and even then I was getting serious stutter.

The map was pretty empty in places and didn't have much in the way of spaces for infantry combat, but it's only one of 7 at launch.

Also not a fan of the removal of classes - seemed to be a complete lack of teamwork and removing dedicated medics/engineers etc doesn't help with that. Having the same skins for both teams isn't great either.

So for me it's a meh, I'll leave it for a few months until the few patches come out.

I gave up on the Battlefield series after an age playing BF2, which was brilliant fun and always very busy. I bought BF3 but it really just wasn't the same.
Went Arma after that and been there since. Bit long in the tooth for them these days, but I do enjoy(call that horribly frustrated) with Arma3 DayZ

I'm not a team player, prefer the lone wolf style, I think its all interconnected small squad these days.
