Bought a cheap Xbox 360 off the bay, all works ok, but fails to connect to Xbox live. Checked out the code and it appears its a banned console. According to MS thats it, once banned, yer out! Anyone know any different?
If you're in Nottignham you can have my old one for free, it's rrod'd twice though, so probably needs a proper reflow, rather than my previous overheating it effort.
Banned?

Banned - you try to connect to Xbox live and it says you need to update the console. The update takes a long ol time, then fails, giving you an error code. You look up the error code on xbox support site and it says its been banned.
Reasons for banning include cheating! illegally modding your Xbox! being rude! and other things that Microsoft need to protect the world of sad gamers from.

'at least i have chicken' 😆 😆
If it's banned there is nothing you can do about it. I had one banned in 2009, there was a massive ban wave around when MW2 came out, literally every xbox console that was flashed to play copied games was permanently banned from xbox live.
of no help to the op but it was one of the best moves Microsoft ever did!
Is the old model 360?
Yes, the old model
Banned games consoles? That's such a bizarre concept. Surely there must be something in place to un-ban them for situations like this?

Hence this thread 🙂
I don't think you can, Brov picked up a cheap banned one a while back, and I think my dad tried to unban it, but I can't 'member if it worked. I'll call him, hang on.
Edit, not if its been modded. Only way is swap motherboards.
Can't you just appeal to teh modz for clemency?
😉

hmm, I think we'll just live without Live!
I would get a refund if you paid more than £40 for it, you are well entitled if the seller didn't describe it as banned from xbox live
Asked a coupe of pals with experience, ones an I.T dude who's quite into hacking and he says there's jack you can do. 😐
I wouldn't have paid a penny for an old Xbox anyway, soz I couldn't help. Let us know if you crack it...
