Sleeping on your back on the floor but does this actually help with back problems or is it an wive's tale?

Myth I think. I recently read something that said that the body is much better off being supported everywhere.
A saggy bed doesn't give enough support either. We've put a memory foam 'topper' on our [newish] mattress and it's fantastic. keeps you warmer in bed as well if that's an issue.

My mum suffered a bad back for years. She put a door inbetween her mattress and base. Apparently it really helped.

Rubbish. Get proper back advice from a pro otherwise you could be exacerbating the problem.

This method and book revolutionised my back condition, his methods are now used in modern Physio and taught at Uni.
