Turned up at Glaston-Bury today, was beyond patient with sound issues then played a brilliant set, just him on an electro acoustic and Dal Singh on the tablas.
What a guitarist - no attitude, just a wall of beautiful noise.
A Roses cover, My Star and inviting a couple of very young kids with cardboard guitars on stage to join him for most of his set.
Managed to grab a word and say thanks afterwards - what a genuinely decent man.
130 bands over 13 stages.
£7 for all day access.
All proceeds to Bury Hospice.
Sunshine.
Mrs Cakehead and Luke Aznavour's theramin on top form and the most relaxed, herbally indifferent policing I've ever seen, much better than previous years.
Top marks all round.
Seen him live with Ian Brown on a few occasions. He can certainly play!
Always nice to know people you admire are decent in real life.
Innit?
For me, he's now up there with Mani, Steve Mason and Dick Lucas as musicians who happen to be much more decent than they have any right to be.
Steve Mason is fantastic. His gig at the Barbican earlier in the year was brilliant. His last album is probably his best IMHO.
I will check out Dick Lucus. Have a listen to exmagician.
Listened to many podcasts and youtube sessions where he just talks about his life
Always comes over well - love his simply red stories
I will have a look out for those Plumber. Cheers!
