Nae Skipinnish, Tidelines or Manran?
From an an absolutely amazing album. Hurry on boys , the Skids.
The best one from the Corries.
Or for something a bit more modern Niteworks are good. Kind of inspired by Martyn Bennett etc.
I knew Big bloody Country would turn up! Yeurgh!
🤣 Could be worse, could be Simple Minds...
Sons and Daughters, really sadly missed.
Oh, Tweed are pretty good, first saw them when I went to see mumfords at aviemore.
Rythymnreel too if you like that kind of stuff
Wot no Frightened Rabbit, King Creosote or Kid Canaveral?
Oops yes, I knew it was Irish - the sound of the pipes got me all excited.
Quay sessions with Roddy Hart on BBCRS is worth a listen.
Did anyone notice how close the Corries were from being wiped out on the road to Killiecrankie, two a breast singing on a busy road nowadays you would be dead
Yes really!
There is a video of this that uses stills of poor broken souls from post industrial Glasgow, but I cant find it.
Robin Williamson.
I still have the debut album by these saucily dressed 80s chaps. Features some Edinburgh scenery for those who may recognise it...
^^^

You an Embra gadge Dez?
Deinitely not. If I was any further south I'd fall in the channel.
handy to know ๐
When young Shirley wasn't the only erm.. gadge in the band
Actually, that sounds pretty terrible now. But Scottish anyway.
Bit like those other shite bands that got away with it back then - Hue & Cry, Deacon Bleugh and Del Amitri. With their fake soulful vocals. Grim.
Agree about GBMM
Big John was the only talent there IMO
I've got that on 7" ^^ ๐
I had it Dez.
Gave away all my vinyl 20 years ago
A friend of mine is mates with the two of 'em
Embra's only a wee toon
This thread got me listening to Martyn Bennett's Grit again. Awesome. Thanks for that. very sad that he went so young.
That scars video... I can remmeebr those orange seats in Glasgow Central and thinking it was a strange and modern place.
Probably only a few years before the got ripped out ๐
A peado once sat next to 11yr old me on those seats and spent at least half an hour trying to get me to go to his car with him to drive to the commie pool for a jacuzzi.
Waverley station was definitely a strange place back then.
How could we forget "The Shop Assistants", featuring our very own pop star/bike shop owner (hint...aviemore)
What no Texas ๐
Christ is that Dave from bothy bikes ??
You can't beat a bunch of blokes who turn up at The Castlebay on Barra on a Saturday night.....
The very same, who knew we have a genuine scottish "pop" star in our midst.
Theirย wikipedia page is here,
Actually, that sounds pretty terrible now. But Scottish anyway
I will be a lone voice disagreeing, I loved them, saw them loads of times and still listen to their music from time to time. Just remind me of cutting about Edinburgh in the late 80's.
