So I might be in the market for a new to me car. Currently in a very sensible Passat petrol 1.4

I have this slightly odd, I think, desire for an Audi A7.

Can you squeeze a bike with atleast one wheel off inside?

Spec wise I am no petrol head, so thinking one of the smaller petrol engines. Our annual mileage is not large.

Any views out there?

Can get bikes in A5 fine, so A7 would also be fine as a sportback. Do note that they are large (wide) cars and probably heavy so a small engine will possibly struggle to get it moving as one would hope for a large executive car. I would probably say an A5 would be better choice to live with

Cheers, didn't realise the A5 came in Avant. I can't afford an Avant anyway but they look nice as does the normal A5.

Take your point on width, it definitely does have presence 😁

Lovely idea, but a big car needs a big engine to make it feel luxurious. Don’t skimp on it with something too small.
The energy needed to push it down the road is the same big or small, so it’s just down to the efficiencies of how it makes the power and how much you use it.

I had an Audi A7 MY20 55 TFSi and it was a fabulous car. It’s not a great car for bikes in the back though as although it has a massive boot floor area wise the height is surpringly low. It’s a good choice for a roof rack though as it’s not a very tall car.

Surprisingly big cars, same width and length as a medium wheelbase transit/vivaro etc.

Sportback = hatchback in old school terms, I didn't mean Avant IE estate, though Audi did change their naming convention so the A4 became the A5 for a year or so ( so there was an A5 Avant) before they changed it back having confused everyone!
