Crashed the bike 10days ago now but still can't put any real weight on the heal of my hand. What's your (in)expert medical opinion?

I think it’s probably injured. Either bony or maybe soft tissue damage. Almost definitely.

Ah OK, just to add due to delayed treatment and attention I now have a dead and disintegrating scaphoid which will lead to long term problems and some badly aligned bones in the other hand. Go see a doctor in a walk in centre where they can xray you and see what is going on
Use your other hand. It’s not as dexterous but it might feel like someone else.
try this. Stand facing a table and place both hands flat on the table with fingers facing directly forwards and with your elbows locked out. Move forwards till your arms are vertical. Now rotate your hands inwards until the tips of your fingers are touching. If you can keep both elbows locked out while in this new position then your Scaphiod will be fine. If it is not possible on the injured hand without having to have a big bend in the elbow then there is a good chance that something in the wrist area (ie your scaphoid) is damaged). If it is just a bruise/soft tissue damage then you should be able to still lock your elbow.
IANAD but broke mine 31 years ago and never had it fixed at the time due to not recognising it over more major injuries. Was later re-broken and set in plaster but has never been right since. Still struggle with that test I describe even 31 years on.!
Cat Ebola or scaphoid. Try the jam jar test. If on attempting to open a sticky jar you end up on your knees howling in pain then I suspect it’s your scaphoid. IANAD.
Or try the natural yoghurt test. Dip it in a pot of natural yoghurt, make not important, let it dry and see if it's gone within a week.

Google anatomical snuff box, press there and if it hurts probably scaphoid. I'd go to gp as emergency appt and have it looked at.

Very much this. The army doc at frimley park a&e, described the test, did it, and after he'd removed me from the ceiling, confirmed it with an xray.
Walk-in centre sooner you get it daignosed sooner you get it sorted 🙂
Just ask them if its cat aids thou - theres a lot of it around at the mo.

Them doctors a funny lot thou, remember how one was waving my arm around with his finger inside my elbow saying i'd won a hospital overnight stay 🙂
