Give creative input into a road trip video?
I have a car, camera, microphone, passenger/2nd pair of hands and a couple of thousand miles to drive across France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, down to Venice and then back via Modena, Monaco and up through France. I fancy making a trip video but most I have seen are either shaky GoPro footage of miles of just driving or short clips of blokes pratting about. I would love to do the high production value with wide vistas and stunning panoramas of the car sweeping through the countryside but there are only two of us and only 6 days for the whole thing so it might be a little rushed.
Obviously I can't script the whole journey or what we will discover, and I don't want to, but a theme or idea to stitch it all together would be good. If it is any help, we are going dressed as that bloke from Miami Vice in the white suit (both of us) so there may be some comedy you can squeeze out of that.

So, Film Directors of STW please give me your best pitch.
That car looks lovely!
1) Buy a gimbal for the camera and some proper mics. Good sound and steady, good quality video is much better than even hi quality GoPro footage.
b) Theme? Roadside eating establishments of the continent. places that sell good quality, typically local food. Or local crafts and skills. Hell! You're a professional peddlar and artist! Go find out what local markets have for things like wot you do.
fail videos do pretty well on the you tube..... some nice cliffs around Monaco, would make for an artistic if fiery death.
Have a look at Sam from seen through glass on YouTube.
I doubt you’ll get production quality anywhere near it, but he makes watching a bloke driving a car look interesting
I will watch a few "Seen Through Glass" this evening. I have watched some of the podcasts before but he has just put up a 2,000 mile road trip to Austria video which I will study but not copy.
I have a remote throat mic but filming will be from a Samsung S22 Ultra and I have a tripod with wiggly adjustable legs so film will either be from a static camera or with it pivoting on one of the tripod legs. I learnt all about shaqy videos when I started the short lived 'Classic Car Clips' series.
I think food places and interesting cars I see will be good enough to get a theme going, plus some "People you see on long drives"
Me next to a pretty little Lotus followed by a review of the food in the hotel behind for example

Can i respectfully suggest you keep your focus on the roads....
I have seen your username reasons...
Are you taking trouser cues from Portilo?
While your passenger makes a wooden shelf......?
