It was a thought I had last night. I went to Beaulieu with the kids for the south sections of children in need, and they had 4 ladies, all size 10-12 (max) and leggy from the local news show doing the gig.
Got home, turned on the tele and the national news readers were on children in need, 4 perfect looking women of similar size....
Is it a 'policy' to employ this type of woman for reading the news??
ps. I would watch the news with anybody presenting, so it matters not to me what they look like...
I inadvertantly caught a bit of CIN last night, and noticed that they'd paired up Terry Wogan with what's her name, Fern Cotton I think.
Old codger and perky young thing.
You never see an older female presenter paired with a young buffsome bloke, do you?
What I really find disturbing is that old dinosaur Brucie, always with some 20-something female co-presenter/assistant.
He's like 90 odd or something. Why does not in any way he have a more mature lady with him on his shows? Someone closer to his own age? Why always a lass young enough to be his great grand-daughter?
What’s wrong with being sexy?
Nothing, Mudshark. I don't have a problem with it, apart from a bit of sexual harassment off the ladeeze, but when you're as buff as me, you've just got to accept it really. 😐
"That's no great granddaughter, that's my wife" to paraphrase an old joke.
always been the case as steve martin said of women in holywood
you can be any size you want thin or skinny.
It is probably institutionalised sexism as the male newscasters tend to be less good looking

Actually, Tess Daly is 42.
Don't know about sexiest but do have crap DJ's
BBC is a bit, but out of the terrestrial channels, I'd have to say that Channel 5 is the sexiest
Who cares?
Pointless noise.
Sorry but young pretty girls are much nicer to look at than old women.
Its just a face of life, get over it and move on.
Sorry but young pretty girls are much nicer to look at than old women.
What about young pretty boys over old men?
Unfortunatly in a crue twisr of fate, older men can look much better than young "boys"
Its just a shame for women, its not fair but then who said life was going to be fair?
What about young pretty boys over old men?
Is that what you like to see?

Why you going with this Elfin !
Maybe. Maybe not, Mung Bean. I won't attempt to speak for others though...
Oh look, another cowardly tag from someone too thick to engage in intelligent condversation... 😆
the same is true of men steve but they dont have to be good looking only the women hence the sexism as women are treated differently from men- why did i need to explain that?
I stand corrected elfin some of them are butt ugly...my mistake 😳
How about Fatty people they can/seem to be funny 😳
This is not the thread you are looking for
You're absolutely correct. Too much middle class whining for me.
Not my tag BTW.
Am I allowed to say that Kate Silverton looks stunning in that pic above?
Sorry but young pretty girls are much nicer to look at than old women.
For some I guess. I'm much happier with mature lady looks myself. Tess looks alright at 42, better body than face mind. Kate Silvertno is nice. Susanna Reid is a hottie.

Far better than some oranged up cartoon look a like thanks.
Women for grown ups please. Curvy, intelligent, mature.
That's how you make sexy.
personally I think the BBC are a lot better than all the other providers in terms of sexism. Not perfect but none of us are. However I think that the recent case about the older lady that was released from Countryfile had a point; women are replaced for younger presenters a lot quicker than men - but I think that the presenters should be replaced on a regular basis (men and women)
bruce forsyth does get on my wick though, a lot of the light entertainment presenters need getting rid of as the bbc shouldn't be paying big wages to keep big names, let itv pay over the odds and the beeb should be the talent factory
Some people spend far too much time on their own in front of the television. There's a whole *real* world out there you know.
